What I learned at the China Day Conference - 24/10/2018

This Wednesday (10/24/2018) I participated for SnowFox Tech of the StartSe China Day Conference here in São Paulo/ Brazil.
It is interesting to see how different cultures bring different points of visit to our reality. Surely this event opened my mind in many ways and brought me at least 3 valuable lessons.

  1. China - Control and a lot of initiative together
Seeing keynote speakers such as captivating Victoria Stive from Alibaba, and brilliant Rui Han from Hanergy (in my view the Chinese Elon Musk) I was able to understand a little of the Chinese Culture of balance between control and accelerated development, tradition and high technology.
The crypto market is a great example of this. While the sale of cryptocoins was not allowed for protection of the population, it is the country that most invests in the development of Blockchain technology, behind the coins.
Certainly millennia of experience contributes to the maturity that I could witness in dealing with such opposing issues.
Comparing with the Western model I can only say that there is no right or wrong, there are different approaches.
It has been very interesting to see how China already lives at some points in a decade ahead of the rest of the world, such as using only cell phones QR code instead of credit cards.
I was very enthusiastic to know the great initiatives of importation of consumer goods from all over the world (contrasting the strong export performance) through the platform Alibaba and also the ‘One Belt, One Road” (or New Silk Road) that with an investment of 1 TRI USD will connect world trade on a new scale.

  2. Blockchain - The theme present throughout the event
Even most of the lectures not being about blockchain technology or cryptocoins (with the exception of the Exchange Coinbene talk, which arrived in Brazil and was there marking the presence) all spoke in some way about how this technology is transforming and will change our lives in the next years.
The last speaker Ronaldo Lemos, a great Brazilian researcher in the field, closed the event saying that Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence are certainly the technologies of this decade, and that we should seek cooperation and development in the area.

  1. ICO - Initial Coin Offering: Alternative for the attract investments
I was able to talk to several people and companies working in the Startups fundraising area, some Venture Capital companies linked to investment funds and others Crowdfunding to smaller investors .
Even with different focuses, there was a broad consensus that while funds and angel investors can only support a select few startups, which fit their selection requirements and risk exposure, ICOs are an attractive alternative to Startups who believe in their products and have not or do not intend to go after investors because of known difficulties.
For these companies, seeking resources through an ICO is not only a financial alternative, but also a way to start the project with maximum interaction and cooperation with its public, and the possibility of bringing a modern monetization to the business (for example, through the utility tokens).

Anyway, an article is little to share all the learning of the event and how much I believe in cooperation with the Chineses.

If you would like to know more about the ICO process for your business, or even talk about Blockchain's market and cryptocoins, or have a coffee at a Starbucks, please contact me.
