Digital collectibles are everywhere within the blockchain these days. The biggest and most abundant type of collectible games are ones that have you collecting cute little pets, such as cats, dragons, or any type of creature. Blockchain Cuties offers the same hook, where you collect cute pets and unlock items and costumes for them. But is Blockchain Cuties more of the same or something you should be looking out for?

Blockchain Cuties’ main focus is collecting, breeding, and trading your collection of Cuties. They fall under three categories which are Normal, Tribute, and Unique cuties. The first two differ mainly from the result of breeding, where Tribute cuties have special attributes. The Unique Cuties, however, cannot be bred and can only be acquired through special sales or completing in-game achievements.

For beginners, or anyone starting out, the barrier for entry is fairly low. Customers can purchase normal cuties for as low as 0.0010 ETH, and there’s even an option to have an intro cutie so you can get a taste of the Blockchain Cuties experience, albeit a severely limited taste. Where things really jump up in price are the Tribute Cuties and especially the Unique Cuties. The Unique Cuties fall under prices that can reach up to 1 ETH or even more. A factor to consider when purchasing is that Blockchain Cuties uses more than one currency and not all cuties can be bought using ETH. There are other Crypto Currencies that can be used, but a more universal currency is still real-world money such as Euros or US Dollars.

Aside from these currencies, the game does have in-game currency and not just one but quite a few, where each giving you the ability buy different things. Two of them can be bought using ETH or other real-world currencies, these are called Cute Coins and Season Pass Tokens. Cute Coins can be used to buy special items for your cuties, while Season Pass Tokens can be used to participate in challenges and unlock rewards. Yes, in order to unlock your rewards you will need Season Pass Tokens. As for the third currency, Paw Coins are only acquired from doing adventures or boss raids. These coins unlock regular cosmetic items for your Cutie.

Once you have amassed a collection there is a bit more you can do than just breed or trade them. BlockChain Cuties currently has an Adventure Mode as well as a Raid Boss mode. In these modes you can unlock rewards and engage in PvP battles or Boss battles. Interaction is limited, however, so you won’t be engaging in actual gameplay, but just seeing results from sending your cuties out in whichever mode. It’s not exactly engaging, but it does give your cuties something to do and is the only real gameplay loop available in the game.

There are future updates coming to the game, such as the upcoming Wars of Cutieland. It is going to serve as a hub world for your cuties where you will be able to participate in possible clan battles or setup communities with friends by purchasing plots of land within the world. Currently everything is in pre-sale and is slated for a 2020 release. There’s not much else to know about the upcoming mode, but if the current modes still leave you feeling underwhelmed, then the future update may provide more for you.

Overall, Blockchain Cuties doesn’t do much to differentiate itself from other digital collectible games out there. It’s currently still quite run of the mill in terms of offerings, but when its future update – Wars of Cutieland – comes out, then it will give these other games a run for their money.

You will have to wrap your head around the abundance of different types of currencies both in and out of the game, since nothing is universal and different in-game currency has different uses. But, if you can’t get enough from collecting digital pets, then Blockchain Cuties may just scratch that itch for you.
