IT giant IBM in collaboration with the Colombian company AOS are developing a platform based on the blockbuster and the Internet of things for the logistics industry. This is reported by CoinDesk.
The blocking platform, developed with the participation of IBM Blockchain and IBM Watson, will allow tracking the location and condition of trucks and their goods.
The system works as follows: trucks are equipped with RFID tags, which contain information about the vehicle, the driver, as well as information about the cargo. IoT sensors track the process of the car's movement, as well as information about the available space on the truck, and then write this information in the locker.
According to the representatives of IBM and AOS, automation of these routine processes will save considerable time and eliminate many errors related to human factors.
"We provide our customers with quality equipment, software, a cloud environment and a high level of security provided by the technology of blocking. We are working on a whole range of solutions, taking care of a higher level of data protection and ensuring their integrity" - said Jorge Vergara, technical director of IBM Colombia.
In addition, the new solution provides integration with the IBM Watson Iot platform, which will allow analyzing various factors that may affect the course of the trip and the time of delivery (for example, weather, air temperature, etc.).
According to a recent study, the size of the IoT market segment in the logistics sector will reach $ 10 billion by 2020. The report, prepared by the companies Cisco and DHL, says that the cash flow generated by IoT technologies in such areas as logistics and supply chain will be $ 1.9 trillion.
At the end of 2016, the leading IBM system architect in Russia and the CIS Vladimir Alekseev in an interview with ForkLog noted that the blockade has long ceased to be the lot of enthusiasts, and the commercialization of the technology of the distributed registry will lead to its integration into various fields.
