Discovering the Blockchain: My first post on Steemit

This last month has been a personal revolution. I've basically grasped what the Blockchain is and what it means for the World and our future, what it can do and what it can facilitate for millions.

Since Bitcoin appeared, its underlaying technology, the Blockchain, was recognized for its potential for -and outside- the financial system. After a while the concept of an smartcontract meant a revolution inside a revolution, now we can program contracts that will interact with each other and human or machine actions in a predictable way through time, inside a secure system not own or regulated by anyone but its users, in a public and potentially transparent manner.

We are indeed talking about an "ethereal" virtual machine, ready for anyone to use, open for everyone with an idea and some technical abilities (or a friend with such abilities, like myself).

Imagine this: I have a kid in school and let's say his/her school uploads his/her grades for safekeeping in the Blockchain. I can write a smartcontract to automatically give a couple dollars in ether to my kid everytime an A or B is registered in a particular subject. Or anything 10 times more complex than that! Of course, teaching our kids to act on the basis of reward and punishment is not what we are advocating for... just an innocent example.

Anyway friends, I wanted to share this video by ColdFusion (1). It articulates very well what the Blockchain means for society and our future. Again, this is something that is waiting for everyone: our own virtual platform for developing revolutionary ideas!
