[Social Network] Narrative

Continuing my Social Network series, today I'd like to talk about another new content-driven blockchain based social network called Narrative. Many thanks to the wonderful @antimetica for bringing this one to my attention, and boy does this one interesting.

Narrative is a content platform where members and brands can create and curate content and share their stories—either visually or through words. More than a social network, Narrative is a true online community where users rule and are rewarded.

Narrative has three types of content channels; Personal Blogs, Niches and Brands. Personal blogs offer users a platform where only their content can be posted, with this type of content not subject to moderation. Niches are communal subjects that anyone can post to, with each Niche having an owner who is rewarded based on the overall quality of the content in this channel. Finally we have brands which are special channels designed for personal brands, organisations or publications that want to control who can post and manage the content on their channels. There does appear to be an auction process to buy "Niches", but I'll report back once I'm on the platform and have a better idea of things.

This is a really novel approach to the content economy, one that I haven't seen effectively done yet. This allows for curators and content creators to have greater control over their content and communities, taking that power out of the hands of those on high. This ability to really nurture a community is something I feel Steemit is lacking, with no plans to change things anytime soon.

Those who are put off or unsure about cryptocurrencies need not worry either, as you can receive your rewards in a traditional fiat currency if you wish. This removes the need to involve exchanges, although I'd be curious to see the exchange rate. Obviously, to many who are familiar with Steemit they'll probably want to take the cryptocurrency option (NRVE), but it's nice to have a choice sometimes.

One of the main complaints regarding the monetisation of content I've heard from many different platform users is that their work can often go unnoticed or unrewarded, but with Narrative you'll be able to build up your community ensuring quality content is both consumed and rewarded. Adding value to the platform seems to be a key part of what the Narrative team are trying to achieve, and this is a glaring problem I've seen with Steemit at the moment.

Talking about the team, you can view all the main players linked in profiles and I was happily surprised to see that Ted O'Neill in on board, the creator of BBCode and co-founder of Social Strata. The team overall seems highly capable and experienced, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this attractive looking Steemit alternative.

If you want to claim your spot and be included in the third round of initial users, then head on over to their wait list and get claim your place. The sooner you get your name on the list, the sooner you can get involved. Out of the three social networks I've covered so far, this one is the one I'm looking forward to getting involved with the most. I'll be including all the usual links down below, so make sure to check this one out.

I poked around in the niche auctions the other night. There's some interesting things about it for sure. I like the niche concept but ... wonder about "niche ownership." It seems a bit unfair someone could own a niche. What if they suck? Or their bias is not aligned with your bias? What about commercial interests "owning" a niche just to farm data? Is that ok, or do people expect it to be some kind of altruistic commercial free community? I just wonder how moderation will work too. Too many questions! haha
Thanks for the shout out!! <3

Only just signed up but I've edited the post to include the referral links.

I'm gonna have a proper look at it all tonight, but yeah I'm with you there. I'm really curious to see quite how it all works, because on the surface it certainly doesn't seem fair. You could end up with a situation where one person is sat on top taking all the profits for doing nothing other than buying that niche.

I'll let you know what I think about it all, kind of a shame that only the niches are available right now.

looks good. Have joined the wait list :) Thanks for the share :)

It definitely looks like an interesting platform. Round 3 is filling up quick so hopefully it won't be too long before we get to try it out, see you there!
