The Top 10 Do's and Dont's on steemit!

in blockchain •  7 years ago

We have moved ahead of Facebook generation. We are in the BlockChain generation. I mean We are in a very advanced generation.

Well steemit is a great example

What is Steemit?

It's Quite simple, Let me even put it in quotes so that you understand it clearly

Well steemit is a blockchain based blogging platform which rewards you for what you do. Means you can post what you want, comment and Upvote (Like) the post and get paid. Sounds fascinating right. The platform completed 2years recently. And there was a lot of hard work put in by the devs.
It is like all the other social media websites, but the only difference is that this platform pays you for your work.

Now

Most Newbies have the problem of doing most of the dont's which i'll later mention in this post . By the way to be honest I was a victim too in the beginning but I learned my lesson early from some of my mentors in @uganda, i must say they did a good job.

Any way let's leave that and focus on what brought us here,

For your own information, there are some practices which don't' work so well on Steemit. Rather than working, they limit your chances of making any gains. It doesn't matter whether you are new on Steemit or have spent some time here, there are a few things you should Do or stop doing right now!

I dkn why but Sometimes I like to think of Steemit as a magic wonderland where anything can happen; both good and bad. So how do you make sure you stay on the good side and avoid any mishaps along the way

So allow me to start with the Do's --- Now as a new user you're adviced to do these in the following;

  1. When posting, aim to contribute value,
  2. Upvote material that contributes value
  3. Only flag material that is abusive
  4. Join contest and get some rewards
  5. Join helpful communities like minnowsupport
  6. Be helpful in the community.
  7. Post great contents and if possible, post them daily.
  8. Comment on peoples posts to gain more visibility
  9. Make friends as they will help you in the later stage.

10 . Do introduce yourself, so if you haven't made an intro-post, after reading this post go and write it immediately

The Don'ts -- If you are a newbie, you should strictly stop doing these things immediately. If you are not new, why are you doing it?

1.Don't spam your comments
2.Don't copy and post contents
3.Don't post explicit contents that may harm a certain group of community.
4.Don't give up so easily,
5.Don't leave valuess comments on people's post because you might get flagged besides that,it's annoying.
6.Don't do blind following, i mean don't follow everyone thinking that they will follow you back
7.Don't beg other people to follow you
8.Don't beg for upvotes
10.Don't vote your comments

I confess, that I did Some of the Don'ts in my Initial days and was not aware of this. My apology to the community.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

This is a great guide for all new people and i will definately recommend this to our Uganda newbies.

Yeah they should probably read this post! @jaraumoses Thanks for being a good mentor, you guided me on the right path...nice surprise to see a comment from you

Thanks for the helpful info. I am one week in and still pretty confused!

Iam glad you liked it, i'm sure if you follow some of those rules, they will help you along the way

You wrote "Don't vote your comments". What about upvoting my own posts? Is it ok?

Thanks for advices.

Personally i don't think it has any problem, the bad side of it is that when you upvote your own post (just after its inception) you earn all the payout from that post. But it might cut down the number of upvotes you would have got otherwise. so i guess the choice is yours,

Great Post! I'm only a day or two in Steemit and this is the first post I could make sense of as a newbie. Thank the gods for dot points, some of the advice posts are so long winded and confusing. Thanks!

Haha i'm flattered

nice intro and welcome to steem world lets follow and support each other.

@midraruddin When you follow beg,(ask people to follow you) you risk being flagged as a spammer, because when you copy & paste follow begging replies in the comments sections of dozens of blogs, that's what you are -- a spammer. i would advice you to stop doing it right now
When you are flagged, your reputation decreases, which means your payouts go bye-bye.

@midraruddin Is that what you want?

Thanks for sharing. Glad to see I'm on the right track with a few of your "Do's" and not too many of the "Don'ts". Time to go and write my introductio ln piece I guess

Thanks for appreciating, well go and write it, i will check it out

Lol, wow....I think i just made all of the mistake on that list when i started and I even made another just before reading this post.

Make sure you don't repeat your mistakes more than twice

Making those corrections as we speak

Thanks Jordan love i have learnt something new from your post
Be blessed dear

True, this post is great @jordanlove, it has taught me a lot.
