Hi Newbies! Happy New Year! So how is the delve into the world of blockchain and crypto going?
In this post I will give you some new links about what Blockchain is. It is good to build up a solid foundation to be able to delve deeper into understanding all this !
If you have listened to / read the links in my 1st Newbie post, you will have an idea of what Blockchain is. You are likely to now have more questions than answers and your head may be exploding a bit. That's ok, just take the info in bit by bit.
By now you will have an understanding that Blockchain is not Bitcoin. Bitcoin uses the Blockchain protocol. Blockchain is a new invention. A new technology, like the internet, or the wheel even. This new invention is being called a new Age in Computer Science. It will change how people do transactions, business, banking and everyday living in a very positive way.
I've spent my summer holidays continuing to research for you and have found some easy explanation posts on Youtube and a another book.
I've been talking to people about Blockchain. Santa bought me a number plate for my car - BLKCHN!
It's been a great conversation starter which has shown me there are a lot of misconceptions about this new invention. People are confused. It's so new they know it's there but they don't know anything about it. They are wary. This is the same state when email and internet were invented. Now it is a part of our everything day.
Guy at supermarket: "Won't the Government shut it down?"; friends: "Isn't Blockchain a currency?"; Facebook chats: "If the banks have no money to fight terrorists women will be forced to live as the terrorists want. "No, no and no. To find the answers you need actively learn about this profound new software program to then see its depths of application and how robust it is.
Here are the links for you. I found these links helpful to me as they had little jargon or explained the jargon. These are links I would give my mum - that is the measure! :-)
Use every moment to learn. Listen in the car/gym/at lunch/as you walk around the house/garden/in the supermarket. Use your ear buds - be they wired or wireless. Use technology to learn about this technology.
- Here Blockchain is explained to a child, teen and adults at different complexity levels. The lanuage explains the concept simply, especially to the child and teen. (17 Mins)
- This woman is a 20 something hip and cool social media icon. Talks about Blockchain in a casual, comical and everday person way. I found what she says is exactly what is in the books I've read written by the experts. Learning helps when the same thing is explained in different ways. Don't be put off by the title. (11:35m)
Easy explanations (Website to read) https://www.finder.com/nz/cryptocurrency
Andreas Antonoplous: Blockchain Expert.
Andreas speaks about what Bitcoin and Blockchain are, the failure of the banking industry and how Blockchain gets those with no access to banks or with volatile currency (such a Syria and Zimbabwe) into a safe ecnomoic haven. I recommend following Andreas and reading his books. He is an expert in Blockchain. He speaks at a good pace and explains things clearly. He speaks globally at conferenes and to Governments. This link is to part 1 of 2 of an interview (47 mins)
- If you are really keen and want deeper information (above mum level):
a: NZ Blockchain conference in NZ. YES THERE WAS A BLOCKCHAIN CONFERENCE IN NZ down the road from me in May 2017!!! I didn't know about it until after it had been. I'd just started looking at Blockchain. Andreas Antonopoulos was there! The founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin (like Enstein of 2017) was there! (Ethereum is a cryptocurrency and a project using Smart Contracts on the Blockchain protocol). Gutted!!!!!
But all the speakers were videoed and are on Youtube (funny how we say video but we don't use old video cameras any more!...I have one somewhere... it should go in a museum. Good example of how technology changes!)
b: Andreas Antonoplous BOOK: The Internet of Money Part 1.
It is on Amazon Audible and Amazon Kindle. It is a collection of Andreas' presentations. I've just started listening to it and will do a review in another post. He's written a number of books that I'll be reading.
Hope you find these links helpful in your learning journey - as I am also on my learning journey, we are learning together! Feedback welcome. Have a great day.
BE CURIOUS: SEARCH, LEARN, GROW
Happy learning
