I'm opening space for this discussion today. A bunch of smart people have got themselves together to crack the way in which identity will need to work on any blockchain using smart contracts. It's the "nobody knows you're a robo-dog" question that I wrote about before.
We've got insurance people, software developers, litigation and arbitration experts all together in a room - some of them are shouting at each other, some of them are talking quietly and thinking deeply. There's a lot going on. I'm sitting a few yards away from a conversation about "Intentional Ambiguity" whereas down the corridor they're talking about "Key Semantics" - that's the semantics of keys - it's a thing.
It's interesting to me that most of the people who are working on blockchain systems aren't necessarily using other blockchain systems. I always suggest that people have a play with Steemit, just because many of the big issues we're all facing in a decentralized future get surfaced here in an immediate way and fortunately we're only ever dealing with tens or hundreds of dollars not the millions or billions that people are talking about here.
Great way to plug Steemit @lloyddavis. 😂 Glad you're enjoying yourself talking about these things.
Did I see that you are going to the Crypto Show on Saturday? Hope so! 😊

yes, as part of the jetset crypto lifestyle, we're flying to Portugal from Heathrow in the afternoon, so I'm hoping to drop into Hammersmith on the way :) I've been into London early every day this week so far, so not sure how early or how long I'll make it for, but hope to get a hi and a hug at some point!

I'm planning on being there for 10.15 when the Steem presentations start. Please try and find me if you can. I think we only said "hi" when we met in person last time and you've been such a great support since I'd really love to have 10 minutes to hang out, before you jetset off again! 😍

morning Uncle Lloyd! hehehehe I wish I could offer something meaningful to the discussion - but I don't know enough about the problem! I've begun to watch the "robo-dog" video from your post 22 days ago... and... hmmmm
should i start with something easier? So far I'm about 10 minutes in - and I'm tracking! surprisingly!! hahaha But - i'm always looking for a sort of - crypto 101. I want to make sure that I'm not missing things along the way that would make my whole "education" a lot easier.
I'm reminded of a time in 6th grade - I went on vacation for 12 days to Disney World with my family. During that time, our English teacher taught the basics of some advanced sentence structure beyond the typical simple sentence. Easy. (or so I thought)
I came home and instead of going back and making sure I understood the concept - I just jumped in, much to my dismay! My grades suffered a bit for the next 3 years whenever questions about that particular issue came because I STILL never went back to the basics.
I was applying for a prep high school - and my parents hired a tutor to prepare me for the exam. In about 30 minutes, she identified my weakness in that area and unlocked the entire concept for me. I was shocked that it was THAT simple. Just 30 minutes of tutoring - 3 years prior - would have saved me a lot of stress!
I didn't know that. I didn't know what I didn't know. I didn't even know what questions to ask, because I didn't see where everything had gone south.
So when I want to understand more about crypto - I feel the same way. How do I know what to ask, when I don't know what I don't know?
So..... all that to say :)
I DO want to know! Is there any place that you would suggest I start? Something basic, so that I can catch all the little pieces that I might have missed and gain a strong foundation on which to build for the future.
Sorry that it's a long comment... but it's a nice alternative to spam, right? ;)

yes, at one level it's all sooooo much simpler than it seems, but there's no point pretending that it should all be easy to understand.
it's all wrapped up in not knowing what you don't know. I don't know what you don't know either. I could point you to stuff, but I might not be any better at finding you meaningful content than a google search would be. doh!
I wrote this a couple of years ago: http://www.contributoria.com/issue/2015-09/559571713cb61f472f000034.html which some people said helped them. hmmm... it's a really annoying thing. And that's good, when I'm annoyed sometimes I fix things or find the things that people have already fixed the problem with that I didn't know about.
keep annoying me!

Great, it is a very complete information what you have written you notice that you have put a lot of work, in this part I feel that you are absolutely right "I always suggest that people have a play with Steemit, just because many of the big issues we're all facing in a decentralized future get surfaced here in an immediate way and fortunately we're only ever dealing with tens or hundreds of dollars not the millions or billions that people are talking about here."

Steemit seems a good place to talk about this stuff. I saw the team of @onosocial are here to talk about their system built on EOS.
