Medipedia employs a perfect blend of blockchain technology for creating an innovative healthcare service platform that is secure and decentralized at the same time. Medipedia’s platform structure is designed such that the service platform along with the app are at the front while the data network and the blockchain work in the core background. Find out more details here.
Medipedia Architecture Plan
Medipedia’s platform architecture is made of the following three layers:
- Medipedia Core
- Medipedia Service
- Medipedia Platform
First layer: Medipedia Core
As the name suggests, it is the innermost layer of the Medipedia platform. The Core is made of a distributed database, formally called medical services data network, that is developed on a very secure Ethereum blockchain that safely stores participants’ data and transactions by using the most advanced encryption tech. The Core layer also works as a backup storage for the data stored on the Medipedia blockchain since the blockchain can only store so much data at a time. All data and transactions, including the conversations between service providers and consumers and payments and other transactions, that go through the Medipedia platform are automatically encrypted and then stored in the Core layer.
The Medipedia Core also has a backup and recovery system that lets users safely restore their data in case of a system failure. The Core can be accessed through the Service layer, which is the next in line.
Second layer: Medipedia Services
The core function of the Medipedia Service layer is to provide a connection between the core and the Medipedia platform so that the information flow can be properly managed and processed between the layers. It also processes the user data to the Core layer and then delivers the output to the platform. The service layer is made of a smart contract that includes information of participants’ accounts, such as token details and personal and medical information and processes it to be stored in the Core. Medipedia is designed such that frequently accessed data and information are stored in a temporary memory using a caching system in order to reduce the burden on the blockchain. It also makes it easier for users to access this data and also reduces network traffic and I/O processing time.
Third layer: Medipedia Platform
The Medipedia platform is what we see at the front of the application. It is the outermost layer of the architecture plan that makes it possible for the users to access and interact with the services and applications of Medipedia. The platform layer manages the entire healthcare ecosystem, along with the users and service providers. It also hosts all types of applications that run within this ecosystem. All application running on the platform layer get controlled access to the data stored in the Core via the Service layer. Medipedia will soon release an SDK to enable third-parties to create and host their own applications on the platform.
