1. Could you please explain MOI (MY OWN INTERNET) to our community, including what it is and how it functions?

Ans: MOI, an acronym for My Own Internet, is the world’s first participant-centric p2p value network that allows users to foundationally own and manages all key aspects of a digital value network (identity, compute, storage, trust, and assets/values).

MOI creates a personalized internet /web3 network that delivers human-like digital interactions by enabling any individual to be a stakeholder of the network in a simple democratic fashion and allows users to use the network as they see fit.

Unlike other chains that use compute (POW (proof of work)) or money (POS (proof of stake)) to manage participation and security in the network, MOI allows participants (and their context) themselves to become a resource in the network thereby allowing for hyper personalization and making it a sustainable ‘people’s network’. By using this new model, MOI eliminates the environmental impacts of a POW system, and the societal (capitalistic) impacts of a POS system.
Foundationally, MOI does this by introducing the idea of context (understand as user’s digital footprint) in a secure and private fashion into computation and distributed networks thereby creating a new sustainable framework for the emerging digital society and metaverse.

Technically, MOI is composed of:
A new context-aware compute machine (called Krish Machine) designed specifically for the digitally interacting world
A new Layer 0 network framework called “Krama” based on a revolutionary participant-centric ordering mechanism for distributed networks
A new Layer 1 web3 protocol and public network built using

  • A new compute machine specific to digital Interactions - An Interaction State Machine
  • A new and efficient Byzantine fault tolerant consensus algorithm based on user’s context – PoXt (Proof of Context)
  • A new intelligent network data structure to store and manage participant’s multi-dimensional values (and states) – Tesseract

MOI is not just another L0 or L1. It is a foundationally new way for networks to support the emerging digitally interacting society by making participants of an interaction central to the computation and making the interactions personalized and human-like. In this model, technology always ‘enables the user and does not control’.

Also, by making the network participant centric, the new dimension of context in computation, enables MOI to solve the foundational privacy, scalability, security, and interoperability problems plaguing the current web3 networks and blockchains in a simple and practical fashion.

2. What does "personalized internet" actually mean?

Ans: Personalized in MOI means the ability of a user to foundationally own and control their digital experience in the emerging web3 world (metaverse), so that each user can enforce their own personal preferences of privacy, security, and trust in all their digital interactions in a simple, practical, and measurable fashion.

Personalization can be thought of as a ‘User Experience SLA’, dynamically guaranteed by the network in all their interactions.

3. Why do you believe that the world requires a new Blockchain?

Ans: Good question.

Over the past 20 years web2 and the new web3/blockchain networks have contributed immensely to Improve the quality of life and convenience for individuals. During this time, the role of technology has also been changing. Technology is no longer a supporting artist in society ( e.g., payroll processing, ordering laptop etc.). Technology is becoming the way of life ( e.g., social, medical, educational interactions).

In this emerging digital society, technology need to support human-like interactions. Human interactions, in our real life, are characterized by the ability of the individual to personalize the interactions based on their choice and preference unique to their definition of what is ‘valuable’ to them. In the real-world model of interactions, the infrastructure enables the individual and allows him/her to control and discover the outcome they want.

For an equitable, scalable, and practical implementation of a digital society, networks need to implement participant preferences and user-ownership and control as a foundational design paradigm of networks. But this is hardly the case today.

While today’s web3 networks have embarked on the journey of decentralization, the solution is still systemic, and the network (or system) is becoming the new ‘controlling entity’ with user preference/choice having no say in how value is transferred in an interaction.

“Web2 is Centralized Infrastructure and Controlling”
“Today’s Web3 is Decentralized Infrastructure and Anarchic (Systemic)”
We need a balance between the two approaches for a practical and useful Web of value.

What we need is a value network that is “Personalized and Enabling” .
MOI is an attempt to create such a network thereby making the blockchain/networks practical, simple, relevant, useful, and valuable to ALL users. Personalization in MOI makes the network more secure, private, and scalable.

4. You cited "context" when describing MOI. Can you describe it to us in detail?

Ans: Context is the participant’s intermediary on the network that behaves on their behalf. It evolves and grows as the participant interacts with the network and with other participants.

It can be thought of as the evolving unique, cryptographically secure digital footprint of the participant that allows the network to harmoniously personalize and manage the network resources and interaction preferences of the participants in a practical and effective manner. It is a ‘holistic and changing Digital Avatar’ akin to the “real-world you”.

Users can be part of the MOI Ecosystem by just creating a MOI-ID from https://iome.ai/signup and you can learn how to create MOI ID at https://medium.com/moi-technology/how-to-create-moi-id-using-i0m%C7%9D-52a454f9af0c

5. What does "value transfer" imply to you?

Ans: Value in real life is personalized and participant centric. The ‘real value’ of an asset is not just it is an economic representation at a gross level, but the impact of its interaction utility in a transfer for a personal purpose.

For e.g., if I am not willing to trade my $5 pencil for $20 shirt, the pencil is very valuable to me. And if I am willing to trade it to a $1 candy it is less valuable to me.

Of course, this is different for different individuals, and it could be different for the same individual across different interaction contexts and assets. And personal value determination based on an economic exchange is one method. But the value could be personalized based on other dimensions as well. For e.g., possession. A cap worn by a celebrity may be more valuable to me. The picture that is stored in a specific location is more trustworthy etc.

This type of interaction-centric value recognition is continuous and context-dependent.

But today’s web3 value networks just represent the gross information state without context of the interaction that produced the personal value of the asset. They just hold ownership and affinity to information. For e.g., Anantha’s pencil is worth $1. It does not address the context of transfer to recognize the true personal value.

In today’s web3 networks value state = f(information, Affinity (ownership)). This is a very programmatic approach.

Since value is personal in human interactions, in MOI, value also includes the context of the interaction which created the value. This is implemented through new attribute called perceived value.

Value in MOI = f(Information, Affinity (ownership), Context) . This is an interactive and personalized approach.

So, Value in MOI is a holistic concept that represents more than just Economic Power with Multiple Dimensions for representing Social, Privilege, Barter and Emotional Assets along with personal context. The ability to transfer such assets natively as part of the protocol itself is known as Value Transfer. This allows for values to be stored and transferred at a personal level with no need of a systemic intermediatory asset thereby eliminating the risk of systemic value crashes (such as Terra).

6. How do you become more scalable and secure?

Ans: Typically, as the number of nodes in a decentralized network grows the security improves. Unfortunately, in today’s networks, as the number of nodes increase there is a reduction in performance and an exponential drop off after a threshold number of nodes is reached. The answer to this has been to create layer 2 and rollup solutions and reduce the node requirement in the lower chains, thereby reducing the overall network security, but eliminating the exponential performance drop-off. This scalability is a mirage, as we have just ‘kicked the can down the road’ and moved the security concerns to the side/lower chains.

In MOI, using Context and the participant centric ordering/agreement mechanism, we achieve hyper-concurrency across multiple interactions in the network at the same time. This allows the network to scale linearly as more nodes are added without any drop-off in performance and throughput.

Also, even though the finality is local and immediate to the Interaction, using an intelligent random walk algorithm the network entropy is continually harnessed and used in each interaction thereby providing the security of the larger network to each interaction.

This way MOI scales linearly as more nodes are added to the network. Since no side chains, shard chains, or rollups are needed the full security of all the nodes in the network are available to all interactions, all the time. This is a key architectural and engineering differentiator in MOI, made possible by parallelizing all key elements in the tech stack such as ordering, agreement, data structures, and execution.

Of course, we recognize the need to co-exist with other applications chains that may need to be created for specific purposes and to support this MOI is built from ground-up with interoperability in mind.

7. You mentioned "Billions of transactions across millions of nodes" in a passage concerning MOI that I read. Are you employing a layer 2 solution to accomplish this?

Ans: No, we do not employ any layer 2 solutions for this. MOI is planned to be implemented as a single global value network across millions of nodes fulfilling the initial stated goal of an ‘Internet of value’ and is a ‘true global computer’.

This is enabled by the path-breaking idea of context-aware compute and introducing participants (through context) as a ‘true intermediary’ of digital interactions.

A true understanding of value (xfers) and recognition of digital interactions as the new value driver has allowed us to build an Interaction State Machine which enables hyper concurrency without compromising security and privacy.

8. Where are we falling short with Web3 adoption, and how might MOI help shape the Internet of the future?

Ans : At an implementation level, for businesses, Web 3 today is an ‘all or nothing game’ with no practical change management approach. Most elements are tightly coupled with no easy way for the current web2 business solutions to integrate into web3. In MOI, we have decoupled id, storage, compute, and ledger in a cryptographically secure fashion thereby enabling current web2 solutions and businesses to start from multiple entry points and gradually move to a full web3 solution thereby offering a practical change management option.

At a strategic level,

Through the idea of context and personalization, MOI’s approach will provide foundational user ownership and control in digital networks and make networks human-like.
As the number of nodes/devices increase exponentially in the digital society, the idea of context-aware compute in Krish Machine, Krama’s participant centric ordering, and the MOI Interaction State Machine will allow all distributed networks (just not open networks) to scale efficiently without sacrificing security
As the digitally interacting society evolves (through metaverse), the idea of multi-dimensional value and participant centric asset ownership will enable simple seamless interoperability across metaverses and phygital realms
By making the participant as a true resource and intermediary in networks, MOI will make the web3/internet of value a truly democratic network allowing for easy global participation.
By enabling (not controlling) a personal value network, MOI will make the internet of future a sustainable and equitable place. More importantly it will make the emerging digital society a happier place by focusing on enabling participants to personalize and control all their interactions.

Twitter Questions

1. Many projects are currently short of breath due to lack of experience and roadmaps. Can you list the outstanding characteristics of the project that make it different from its competitors? What competitive advantage does your platform have that you feel most confident about?

Ans: We, at MOI, have a good blend of senior architects and solution engineers with foundational experience in building complex tech and business solutions along with young and energetic web3 resources who want to user in the new internet. This potent combination makes the product forward-looking, but meaningfully useful and practical today.

We have clear vision and strategy to address the foundational security, performance, UX shortcomings of current web3 platforms, while also delivering capabilities for the emerging digital society. We have taken the hard route, have done foundational research for the past 5 years and built a new stack of tech capabilities, which we believe will stand the test of time and drive value in the long run. We, as an organization culture, focus on basic sand understand this is a marathon and not a sprint. We believe in adding ‘true’ value to the society which in turn will make our platform useful and valuable in the long-term.

Our new context-aware compute paradigm and the Interaction State Machine (ISM) which includes: the participant ordering mechanism, the new context-enabled consensus algorithm, multi-dimensional value management (tesseract), and the hyper-parallel execution are all game-changing technology differentiators that we are confident about.

In most implementations, it is either ‘Think Small and Start Small’, or ‘Thing big and Start Big’. We have unique approach where ‘We Think Big and Start Smart’. This allows MOI to be relevant in the long-term, but useful in the near-term.

2. Where did you get the project name from? What does it mean to you And why did you choose this name for your project? What is your mission and vision to build this project? What do you want to achieve Through the future?

Ans: The name for the project comes from the French word “moi” pronounced as /mwä/. It is a humorous way of saying ‘me’. We used this name because we are personalizing the internet and trying to put the user in control of all their values and interactions. At the end of the day ‘a value is a value only when it is valuable to me!’. MOI is also an acronym for ‘My Own Internet’ again signifying personalization of networks.

The primary vision of this project is to improve the ‘happiness quotient’ of the emerging digital society and make it an equitable and sustainable place. We do this by building foundational digital, technology, and societal tools that allow users to be control of their experience in every interaction, making them less anxious and happier in each of their digital interactions. Our immediate goal is to deliver a network with Million ‘truly’ decentralized nodes supporting Billions of transactions.

Live Audience questions:

1. Smart contracts are prone to failure, and many projects fall victim to it, costing user funds and discrediting projects. How reliable and secure are your smart contracts? Did you test it with either party?

Ans: MOI is a very secure blockchain and foundationally different from other web3 chains today. Let me explain how. Today's blockchains are programmatic with the user assets locked in a smart contract creating the opportunity for a 'honey pot' attack. But MOI is a participant centric and Interactive blockchain with the assets state-fully stored at the participant level and the logic alone maintained at the smart contract level. This foundational decoupling of asset and logic in a cryptographically secure manner using the participant eliminates the possibility of 'honey-pot' attacks in MOI that happens in other blockchains today. On top of this the personalized nature of value management stops the need for intermediary tokens enabling elimination of systemic crashes (like Terra).

2. What's your main focus right now,can you tell me?are you focused on the community or market/Exchange or the products?

Ans: Our focus now is on the product and community building. We have a clear vision and strategy to address the foundational security, performance, UX shortcomings of current web3 platforms, while also delivering capabilities for the emerging digital society. We have taken the hard route, have done foundational research for the past 5 years and built a new stack of tech capabilities, which we believe will stand the test of time and drive value in the long run. We, as an organization culture, focus on the basics and understand this is a marathon and not a sprint. We believe in adding ‘true’ value to the society which in turn will make our platform useful and valuable in the long-term.

3. Are you afraid that someday there will be another project with more innovative technology can replace your project. SIR please Ans my question ??

Ans: We are always afraid that someone in a 'garage somewhere' is building something new and transformational. And we respect that. But, by developing our context-aware compute machine (which is foundationally different from a programmatic Turing Machine) we believe we are well set to be relevant and useful in the emerging digital society. In developing Krama, our participant-centric ordering mechanism (which is foundationally different from systemic network clocks such as Lamport clocks), we believe, we have developed technology that can efficiently scale to millions of distributed nodes in a secure and efficient fashion. In developing the Interaction State Machine (ISM) and Tesseract , we believe, we have the engineering depth to support the emerging metaverse and trillions of digital assets. Finally, in bringing the personalized value xfers, we will make the network relevant and easy to use for ALL users. Long story short, the sum of all these innovations will keep MOI relevant for a long time. We always are on the lookout for new things and keep learning from our peers and competitors. But we are confident, in 10 years’ time, MOI will be around as one of the top web3 networks, if not THE web3 network.
