Spain’s Lawmakers Push for Blockchain Use in Governance
The story:
Spain’s ruling party believes the government should utilize blockchain to operate the country’s public administration more efficiently.
Details:
133 deputies from the Popular Party submitted a blockchain-related proposal to the Congress of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Spanish Parliament. This proposal recommends that the government introduce blockchain “with the aim of improving internal processes and providing traceability, robustness and transparency in decision making”. Moreover, the lawmakers recommended building public and private blockchain models “in order to favor secondary markets for goods and services that lower costs, increase productivity and encourage the creation of specialized employment.”
Why it is important:
Spain is joining other future-oriented countries and pays more attention to blockchain! This will positively affect the popularity of the technology throughout Europe.

Malta Passes Blockchain Bills Into Law, ‘Confirming Malta as the Blockchain Island’
Details:
The Parliament of Malta has passed three bills into law that establish a regulatory framework for blockchain technology. The bills include the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Act, the Innovative Technological Arrangement and Services Act, and the Virtual Financial Asset Act.
Dr. Jean-Philippe Chetcuti of Maltese law firm Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates said the passage of the new legislation is “a momentous milestone for Malta as a forward-looking economy, truly confirming Malta as the ‘blockchain island”. Chetcuti noted that companies will feel more comfortable “committing to further investment, and setting up in Malta.”

Malta’s leaders believe in the huge potential of the blockchain tech. They are ready to open their borders for crypto enthusiasts and promote blockchain in many spheres. Other countries in the region might follow the suit.
Microsoft Taiwan Sets up Blockchain Partnership

Microsoft Taiwan has entered into a partnership with Digital China and Hot Cool with the aim of using blockchain technology to help improve on the entertainment, financial and e-commerce industries.

This partnership is looked upon as an opening for blockchain business opportunities to increase and thrive in the Taiwanese marketplace.
