Nvidia, which has recently provided services to players, has asked retailers to limit the availability of graphics cards to non-gaming communities. Specifically, away from cryptocurrency miners.
According to ComputerBase, Nvidia spokesman Boris Bohles said gamers will always be their number one priority. "Gamers are No. 1 for NVIDIA and are related to our GeForce product line. All our activities have been focused on our main audience. To ensure GeForce gamers maintain the availability of the best GeForce Graphics card in The Current Situation, We Suggest That Our trading partner should be suitable arrangements to meet the needs of regular gamers.
To help retailers control sales, Nvidia is looking for ways to lower the price of the graphics card. From April 2017 to this month, TechSpot reports a 27% price increase for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, a 86% increase for the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, a 89% increase for the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and a well-known GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 59 %. Customers buy a large number of these cards, resulting in price increases and product scarcity. Nvidia also recommends that each customer sell only two graphics cards to avoid further sales.
Encrypted currency mining is on the rise, with bitcoin miners up to 36 terawatt-hours in 2017. However, this is not the case when Bitcoin was first introduced. Miners can easily use two or three PCs and CPUs. But over time, the complexity of generating BTC has also increased, and miners are beginning to look for more computing power. Interestingly enough, TechRadar ranks Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1070 as the best mining graphics card. Due to the higher hash rate and lower power consumption, cryptographers ignore the high price of long-term use of the product. In fact, Nvidia's graphics card occupies three positions in the list above.
Last year Jensen Huang, Nvidia's chief executive, talked about cryptocurrencies and their future: "Crypto stays here and the market will grow quite large. It will not disappear soon. There will be more money coming from different Country ... We keep very close to the market and understand the dynamics are very good.
Huang even mentioned that Nvidia has a "slot SKU optimized for mining", which led to the belief that the company will introduce a cryptocurrency GPU. However, recent news shows that Nvidia is not yet entering the encryption market.
While other companies are taking advantage of this situation for more financial benefit, Nvidia has chosen to focus on meeting its gaming community.
