I have little question regarding the govermental adoption of blockchain.
I like your comments on transparency - a properly implemented solution would solve many issues in politics. There are many implementations that I believe could be dangerous. Verification powers given to 'trusted' organizations...
A true implementation would most likely involve too much decentralization for the governments to get messy with. I would love to be wrong here.
It will be interesting how governments evolve with crypto KYC/AML regulations. This will most likely impact exchanges the most. How will decenteralized products (exchanges) fit into the govermental regulatory model. The USD is going digital, (a sort of cryptocurrency where the US Government is the only block signer) when it does it will bring along strong KYC/AML systems built right in.

the block chain can eliminate almost all of banking.
I wonder how much of government it could also get rid of?

Our voting forms are absoludicrously oversimplified.
Our tax forms are complicated.
We vote for feeble people who get bribed and break their promises.
We pay taxes for things we don't want.
Why not join the voting form and tax form?
Tell 'em where you want your tax money to go and vote to support policies and institutions, and starve out bad ideas, corruption, and rudderless "leadership". Then "they" can keep their stupid money and influence in politics.
Bonus feature: more participation.
But they don't want honest participation in democracy. "If voting were effective it'd be illegal."
200 years ago it took weeks to get horseback news by land and that's why we all needed elected representatives. 100 years ago the telegraph changed nothing. 10 years ago the internet changed nothing.
Let's stop procrastinating and bring back the royal guillotine!

Okay, two thumbs up, and fist pump is great, but if you vote for me I promise like a politician to make all your dreams come true.

I feel like it's inevitable that governments end up using cryptocurrencies. I hope, like I'm sure many other do, that in the process our privacy isn't lost. Surely there will still be some private cryptos to store money in, but just the thought of using a government crypto kinda worries me.

Although if you really think about it, how much different would a "government crypto" be than fiat money - which essentially just funny-money printed in thr central banks' computer system...?

True that. No different, except now they can keep track of everything...

Crypto-whatever is just another form of keeping track of everything. They already do that - since long before the Nazis who were apparently legendary at it.
I'd be more afraid of Brazil Buttle/Tuttle type typo crypto mistakes.

This would be a total shift of the government agencies. A shift that will make their job much easier.

Excellent article rok-sivante. I have been talking about this since day one in Steemit. After seeing so many anarchists and libertarians bitch and moan about "the system" while the world was moving forward with the technology, I couldn't help but point out the hypocrisy.
Glad you are putting it again out-there. We need to level our heads if we are to move forward. Ideologies have nothing to do with progress or technology. Everything adopts sooner or later.

I'd love to see these ideas tested on a smaller level like maybe a small city collecting property taxes and sales taxes. Then we could test this theory out as a beta program with these smaller cities and see where there are holes and bugs. Once that city starts showing the benefits, it could then be leveled up to medium sized cities and so on. I'd love to be involved in creating a system like this as I have many ideas on how this could be implemented.
