On the anniversary of my first ShelterZoom blog, we are launching our long-awaited new website. The new face of ShelterZoom means a new beginning for the company, as well as for everyone involved in it.
Today’s ShelterZoom, as summarized by Allen Alishahi, Co-founder and President, is “a culmination of great ideas, a great team and great courage. I am so proud of what we have achieved in just months. To establish our own position in the industry as the leader has been replete with challenges, and I am confident that ShelterZoom’s visionary outlook will continue to inspire us and the industry to forge ahead to further innovation.”
The company has grown from two co-founders to 50 talented professionals within a short timeframe, and there are no signs of slowing down. This is reflected in the increasing number of live affiliates week after week, sign-ups from every corner of the world and the growing number of live transactions.
ShelterZoom’s competitive team, something I am most proud of, is nothing less than miracle. Just in the last three months we took home three major global awards!
Finally, I took a recent opportunity to come back to Australia and experience the home selling process firsthand. I knew it would not be easy to sell my beloved farm house. The experience was further dampened by losing our ponies. Over the years, our neighbors got older, and taking care of animals had become too much of a chore for them. Half of the ponies found new homes while I was away. My favorites, Shanny and her best friend Jo Jo, were put down after struggling with ill health. The farm life is no longer the same. In addition, my children are ready to move on and start their new lives in New York.
The home selling, though stressful, was smoother than I expected. The beautiful oasis we built up over the last nine years had paid off. While I was sadly packing away what was left in the house, something extraordinary has happened. I felt a light bulb moment. That was the moment we must have been searching for over the last few months — or perhaps even the last two years — for giving ShelterZoom a real life and soul. This intense personal experience has illuminated the path ahead of me with electric clarity.
I woke to a sunny winter morning thinking through this experience, realizing that there are magical things in your life, and you just can’t let them go. I decided to cancel the property sale. As I was driving through the farm gate, waving goodbye to our neighbors, I knew one day I would come back to my farm to finish writing my ShelterZoom story.
