Blockchain Research Institute (BRI), a multi-million dollar global blockchain collaboration, recently welcomed over 12 new members including major banks like BPC Banking Technology, Raiffeisen Bank International and financial company like Salesforce.
Salesforce which is popular for its native customer relationship management (CRM) software and Cloud computing tools were added to the committee alongside eleven others from various financial fields like Public relations and brand management.
The Blockchain Research Institute (BRI) which is dedicated to the research of new blockchain ideas, strategy and applications already have in its folds notable government-affiliated bodies, major tech companies and financial industry players in the likes of Microsoft, IBM, the Bank of Canada and PepsiCo. Peter Schwartz, senior vice president of strategic planning at Salesforce told newspersons that needs to be researched extensively. "As with other disruptive technologies, blockchain requires deep study from a variety of perspectives to understand its broader implications," he said.
Experts agree that the research and development of Blockchain will be more effective when. There is a combined effort that spans the industry. A centralized effort to share research data and access to resources would be beneficial to all parties involved.
During the welcoming speech, the Executive Chairman of the institute Don Tapscott disclosed that, the body was pleased to welcome these global leaders to the Blockchain Research Institute. "The blockchain industry is growing and changing at an accelerated pace, and we look forward to helping these companies navigate the blockchain revolution through our research and thought leadership." Tapscott also noted that the institute aims at further innovation through sincere collaboration by “creating a network of builders” in the industry. While the blockchain technology is still at its infancy, the addition of new members into the research institution would certainly bode well for blockchain research and implementations.
The other newly inducted members include Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank International, Switzerland-based BPC Banking Technologies, brand manager VIKTRE, public relations firm Navigator Limited and Blockchain startups which includes Aion, Decental, Polymath, Shyft Network and Sweetbridg.
