International CES:

CES today kicked off in Las Vegas, United States, Huawei announced at the show Mate 10 series products officially landed in North America. Among them, Mate 10 Pro price of 799 US dollars, Mate 10 Porsche Design version price of 1,225 US dollars, will be February this year, pre-sale.

It is worth mentioning that, as the foreign media reported two days ago, the cooperation between Huawei and the U.S. operator AT & T was unexpected. The Mate 10 series was sold in public channels such as Amazon and Best Buy in the United States.

Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer business, said at the scene: "For us, this is a huge loss to operators, and the loss to consumers is greater because they have lost their best option."

In fact, as early as last year, foreign media constantly reported that Huawei is about to enter the U.S. carrier market and may work with AT & T. As early as this session of CES before, Huawei has been covered under the local line ads. In the outside world, Huawei's formal entry into the U.S. market seems to be a veritable affair.

However, the final story did not move toward the established script. Before the CES, the United States, "The Wall Street Journal," citing people familiar with the matter, AT & T has withdrawn plans to sell Huawei handsets, the specific reason is not yet clear. At the time of this news, AT & T and Huawei officials have not responded.

The Wall Street Journal said in the report that Huawei is the world's largest telecommunications equipment vendor, while a 2012 US Congress report expressed concern about the security of Huawei equipment. Huawei denied the allegations at the time and said the report is politically motivated.

Subsequently, Tencent Technology acquired a copy of "A Message from 18 US Congressmen Jointly sent to Ajit Pai, FCC Chairman," which mainly requested that the FCC request Huawei and the United States Carrier cooperation investigation. And analysis pointed out that this is very likely to be the root cause of AT & T and Huawei cooperation was "temporarily canceled."

Different from the Chinese market, the US smartphone market has been dominated by operators, accounting for more than 80% of the market. Currently only the Chinese mobile phone manufacturers entering this market through operators are not many, only ZTE, Coolpad, and TCL mobile phones entering through the Alcatel curve.

Among them, ZTE has enjoyed a good development in North America and currently ranks fourth in stability. But even so, these three flagship markets are below 200 dollars price segment, more than 70% of the high-end market is still firmly occupied by Apple and Samsung.

According to Huawei official news, it expects total shipments in 2017 to 153 million units, accounting for 10% of the global market share, second only to Samsung and Apple. Currently, Huawei handsets have entered more than 170 countries and regions in the world, ranking first in the Chinese market and occupying more than 30% market share in Italy and Finland.

Yu Chengdong has repeatedly publicly said it will surpass Apple in one to two years. To achieve this goal, it is clear that Huawei needs to make breakthroughs in some new markets, including the U.S. market. The Mate 10 series and the Porsche design version priced at $ 1,225, which Huawei launched in the United States, would have hit Apple in its headquarters if it could get the support of AT & T, the largest operator in the United States.

Yu Chengdong said at this conference: "We have a lot of certifications for privacy and security protection and we use the highest standards of security and privacy protection in the industry."

It is worth mentioning that the US version of Huawei Mate 10 series and the domestic version of the same, using its own unicorn 970 processor, rather than the US chip giant Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. It is rumored there is a rumor that this Huawei and AT & T cooperation blocked, this is one of the major reasons, both because of patent protection, but also out of security considerations.

Huawei did not disclose when it resumed its cooperation with U.S. carriers. Google's withdrawal from the Chinese market is still one of the few technology giants in the world. Even though Huawei failed to enter the U.S. market this time through carriers, this will not have too much impact on Huawei's global growth.
