More Days of Onshore Flow Ahead After A Very Warm Tuesday
Now that the holiday weekend is just about overwith, the low clouds that hung in tough today will still be around tonight over Long Island. There is dry air to the north that is trying to move in but it may take most of the night for it to get here. So its low clouds and patchy dense fog for the overnight thanks to a northeast wind. Temperatures will settle in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
US SATELLITE
Our satellite picture tonight shows the large circulation of Subtropical Storm Alberto which is now inland over NW Florida and moving slowly north. Rain is on the regional radar as far north as Southern Virginia however you will see on the loop that there isn't much northward progress being made. There is just enough of a flow from Canada aloft to keep that moisture locked away to the south at least for the next 2 days.
Tuesday the sun will be back and it will be very warm with highs reaching into the 80s away from the ocean. There could be a downpour or a thunderstorm that might pop up in the late afternoon but the best chances for that should be well to the west in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
NAM MODEL WEDNESDAY MORNING
Wednesday the onshore flow comes back as high pressure builds in Northern New England. The ocean wind plus the possibility of some clouds will keep temperatures in check so highs will be just into the 70s away from the ocean. There should be some sunshine on Wednesday. Thursday the moisture to the south and west which are the remnants of Alberto will bring an increasing chance for showers Thursday and Friday. More showers are possible over the weekend as another big high builds down from the north and the onshore flow is re-enforced. We have blocking developing in the North Atlantic which could be the onshore flow issues in play into early next week.
