BLOCKPORT ICO REVIEW: A hybrid-decentralized exchange with a strong focus on user-friendliness, social trading features and building a knowledge sharing community

in blockport •  7 years ago  (edited)

Presale: 3 jan
Crowdsale: 24 jan
Total supply: 69,440,000
Circulating supply: 49,600,000

A social decentralised exchange. We need a new one since EtherDelta is not the best one so there is a need for this product in the marketplace. You can copy the trades of other people too. Basically a decentralised coinbase but better, nice and clean interface. They also have an app version too. The service is already offered by a centralized entity but we need a decentralised one. It will be good for beginners too. You can buy with your credit card.

It doesn’t have a first-mover advantage but being a decentralised coinbase will certainly differentiate them from the other exchanges.

I would say that the competitors are all of the exchanges but in particular, I would say, coinbase and etherdelta.

PRICE: It is priced reasonably at 1 BPT = 0.39 USD because the supply is very small at 69 million/ circulating supply is 49 million only and the idea is big. Unsold tokens will be burnt. This decreases supply. However, I think the tokens will all be sold within the time frame given. If not, even earlier (24 Jan-28 Feb). The supply being very small which could also affect the price majorly when a really big investor dumps all of his coins so for those who are interested in only flipping this ICO, you might face this problem.

About the community, there is only 7,000 people on their telegram group which seems pretty low for a typically good ICO. Lack of hype could also be due to the ICO not being listed.

ROADMAP
Jan Q1:

  • Will launch Alpha prototype.
  • Launch of Blockport 1.0 Beta in March
  • Implementation of the knowledge sharing platform

(Q2 2018)

  • Blockport 1.0 full release, supporting: Bitcoin, Ethereum and several other tokens
  • Blockport 2.0 Beta release (Exchange of Exchanges) - Social trading features.

(Q3 2018)

  • Blockport 2.0 full release, supporting 50+ cryptocurrencies and tokens.

(Q4 2018)
-Blockport 3.0 Beta release, supporting 100+ cryptocurrencies and tokens.

(Q1 2019)

  • Blockport 3.0 full release (Hybrid-decentralized Exchange), supporting most popular cryptocurrencies and tokens.

Their roadmap is really busy and everything will be released quite fast. Therefore, it is suitable for flipping and better for long term hold since exchange coins do pretty well when the exchange gets published. However, the lack of hype and only having 7k members on telegrams could be the barrier for flipping. I have a feeling that this coin will rise as quick as Cobinhood, if not, bigger. For flippers, the coins will be distributed right after the ICO ends which is 28th December. It could also be before that if it sells out.

TEAM: The lack of experience and the youthness of the team members is a major concern. Especially for an exchange project where regulations are so important. On the other hand, they have come over this issue with having a strong legal expertise from the advisors. I still have concerns over the lack of experience because the Blockport model is quite complex. Lars Rensing is an advisor from the Arc team.

PARTNERS: Deloitte and Ark stood out to me the most.

GITHUB: Their github seems pretty active but it only started on 28th December. Here is a link. https://github.com/Blockport/tokensale/commits/master

PROTOTYPE: There are screenshots of a probable interface. There is a prototype available here: https://alpha.blockport.io/login . Here are some screenshots for people who are too lazy to sign up.
