[ANN] Tomorrow morning BlockTrades will temporarily shutdown Steem wallet to upgrade for hardforksteemCreated with Sketch.

in blocktrades •  8 years ago

BlockTrades (https://blocktrades.us) will be upgrading its steem wallet to 0.16 hardfork client tomorrow morning (approximately 9am Eastern Standard Time). Because of the significant nature of the changes made to the new client with regard to the way blocks are stored in shared memory and resulting changes in performance on virtual machines plus the need for a full resync of the blockchain, BlockTrades may not be able to process Steem transactions for several days until we've successfully synced the new wallet.

Therefore, if you wish to buy or sell Steem or Steem-backed dollars via our service, it's recommended that you place your orders prior to the beginning of the upgrade tomorrow morning.

wow, pressure :)

Thanks for letting us know....

I really think the wallet buy functionality built into the site should have been updated/removed during this upgrade for those that are unaware.

@blocktrades I unfortunately just found this after trying to buy some steem about an hour ago and my wallet says unknown error sending output. Am I screwed for a few days now?

Sorry for your loss.

Probably not, I just recently figured out the problem was caused by the protocol change and fixed that, so now I just need to get the wallet synched. I also made some other changes to reduce the time I think it will take it too sync, so I think we will be operational again in the morning. Now let's just hope the hardfork goes smoothly. Even if I get the site up tomorrow morning, I'll probably take it down briefly just before the hardfork, in case of issues during the transition.

Thanks for letting us know and keeping us updated!

Thanks for the notice!

Excellent, glad you are upgrading. Thanks for keeping everyone posted!

Are the wallets running now?

Yes, we won't start upgrade till tomorrow. Quick tip: you can check if wallets are running by seeing if you see transfers out of our account here: https://steemit.com/@blocktrades/transfers . If you see transfers out, you can safely assume the wallet is synched up.

It will be great if you announce whenever it's working again. Cheers :)

Yep, we'll do that :-)

Great service, and to have it integrated into Steemit makes for worry free transactions.

BlockTrades steem wallet is now officially down for upgrade work.

Good to know!

All right
Resteem and twitter

Yes, will be upgrading tomorrow..

@blocktrades I made a few transactions before seeing this post smh... have I lost my btc?

No, we'll process orders after we finish synching. Sync is going reasonably well, although it's taking a little longer than I had hoped (was hoping to complete it before hardfork). As it is, should be done in 2-6 hours if it continues at current rate (keep your fingers crossed).

Fingers crossed :D thanks for the reply!

Oh I didn't know....when will I get my Steem Power I bought on Poloniex

If you bought it through BlockTrades, we'll send it after we've finished the sync up, looks like it should be done today, barring any problems.

We've re-enabled our steem wallet. If you sent in funds during the last 18 hours or so, please check to be sure you received your purchase.

I ordered for 2.000 SBD through you, @blocktrades, today, only two SBD, and I used your Black Trades website and included my Bitcoin wallet address on my Ubuntu computer and added the memo code when I transferred SBD from my Steemit Wallet to your @blocktrades.
.
My Bitcoin Core is syncing and it may take weeks it seems. Maybe, I will not be able to see the transaction until my wallet is synced. I feel the syncing process is very slow and I feel I may not want to continue to use Bitcoin Core as a wallet.
