BlockTrades is running a temporary "HF20" sale on Steem delegations (50% off)

in blocktrades •  6 years ago

The switchover to the Resource Credit system in Hard Fork 20 has temporarily left a lot of users without enough Steem Power to broadcast transactions.

To help Steemians combat this problem, we've temporarily lowered the costs of delegations purchased on BlockTrades by 50%. You can buy a delegation with another cryptocurrency such as ethereum or litecoin and directly power up your Steem account.

how long will this promo least ?

I'm not really sure yet. I guess at least for next few days while people are recovering their resource mana.

Good Morning,

I know you guys are super busy but about a half hour or so ago I transferred some ETH from my coinbase wallet to blocktrades for STEEM. The transaction was successful, however the STEEM has not made it to my STEEM wallet. I have used your service for a long time now and this has never happened.

Is it a HF issue and just delayed? Not sure how to contact your guys directly so I am posting here in hope you will see and respond.

Thank you for your great service and looking forward to getting this update done.

It's related to the HF: we're temporarily out of resource credits to send the Steem (a bug in the current calcuations allowed us to temporarily get negative resource credits, so we have to wait till it regenerates back to positive). There's a note up on our site at https://blocktrades.us about it. We'll send your Steem as soon as we can: short of another code update by steemit, that will be on Monday, sorry for the delay.

Ok. Thank you so much for the response. You are correct that it is one your page, I overlooked it.

Hi @blocktrades, I would like to bring to your attention my request for SP delegation (90 days) that I haven't received until now. The transaction is about 11hours ago. Below are the screenshots of the transaction taken at steemd.com & in blocktrades website for your reference:

Note: Based on steemd.com records / history, I have not receive the 108.931 SP even though I already sent the 6.225steem.

Please look into it. Thank you

Hi, sorry for the delay, we'll process your order and similar orders on Monday when we recover enough resource credits to send it. See other comments here for more details about it.

Got it. Thanks a lot @blocktrades

We can buy only with other cirrency or we can have it using own steem. And till what time the offer is applicable ?.Also with voting power almost sucked up and no way it is going to climb up in jext 4-5 days...is it ok to have delegation now?

Posted using Partiko Android

You can buy with Steem or with other currencies. The sale is good for at least the next 4 days. If your voting power is completely sucked up, it will still help some, as you will get more RC as your voting power refills, but it's definitely more useful if you have at least some voting power when you buy it as you will get more RC immediately in such a case.

Can you add a cash option? I hear that is still being used by some older people not in crypto yet.

We're working on it, but the regulations around cash are very complicated and burdensome in the country where I live (USA), so I'm very conservative about cash transactions despite the company being located in another jurisdiction.

Paypal friends and family is a great option on a small scale.

Keep up the great work and kind heart, it helps the platform a lot!

Blocktrades still operating at full speed today, sold them some SBD and transaction was instant. At least something works around here

Hf20 doesn't relate to blocktrades in anyway, it should work.

Posted using Partiko Android

Not really true: our service interacts with the Steem witness and wallet processes, so a HF does potentially affect us. That's why most exchanges aren't allowing deposit/withdrawal of Steem: they haven't yet got their wallets operational and/or made necessary changes to communicate with the witness and wallet code.

I'd upvote you but i'm still at under 50 percent voting power

But we still can also pay with steem? Please confirm @blocktrades

Yes, you can also pay with Steem, assuming you can have enough RC to do the transfer.

Is RC related to transfer amount or per transaction only?

Per transaction only, there is no relation to transfer amount. But different operations in a transaction can cost different amounts (for example, voting is cheaper than posting or commenting).

Cheers mate - sounds doable - need to grab my laptop to get started, never bought delegation yet - would be a first lol

Thanks for the swift deal @blocktrades - good work!

If i attempt to buy STEEM for ETH and it fails and you process it on monday, at what price ETH/STEEM will you process the payment? Price today or on monday?

We've gotten our RC issues resolved and we will be completing everyone's trades immediately. Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

We'll process it at today's price.

Hi Team

I got an issue when trying to Transfer STEEM to STEEM DOLLARS , apparently is completed (Logged on my Completed Transactions) but I don't see it in my wallet yet. 6 hours already pass. Could you please help me on that?

I was about to reply to your email, but I'll reply here instead. The blocktrades account temporarily ran out of resource credits due to an unfortunate combination of circumstances: the high cost of the account claim operation, a mismatch in the costs reported for this operation on 0.20.4 (which our wallet was running) and the new 0.20.5 which was released late last night, and a few witnesses that were still running older versions of the code that allowed the claim operations to process and push our RC into negative territory. Fortunately one of our admins noticed it was going negative and stopped it before it went too far. Our account is recovering RC now and we'll process any outputs that failed as soon as our RC goes positive again Monday afternoon (including yours). We've also posted a warning on our site about purchasing Steem-related assets until then: basically any purchase before Monday is treated as a pre-order.

Thank you so much about your support, I am better now :)

ok , I will check Monday evening.

We've gotten our RC issues resolved and we will be completing everyone's trades immediately. Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

BlockTrades is running a temporary "HF20" sale on Steem delegations (50% off)

How about your fees to convert steem into bitcoin ? Any sale there? Seriously considering that that this is a down and out for me.

them some heavy words but on the real I don't blame you! What an absolute mess, don't know if I should laugh or cry

Concur. To suggest this HF was botched is pretty much the euphemistic to put it.

This is the third person, another minnow, I have became aware of today that is planning on exiting as a result of this fork.

What is concerning is now one of the top 20 witnesses that bears responsibility for the fork is now having a special sale to under the pretense of alleviating the conditions of the same fork.

I don't understand the culture here where such a thing is ok. When I was in the Marines, we were taught if one fails, we all fail. In that light, pertaining to the top 20 witnesses, I believe they ALL failed with this fork.

I want to see more than delegation sale to fix it.

Posted using Partiko Android

that was a train wreck of a social media site update.

Laugh is good for health.

Posted using Partiko Android

The only discount is on Steem delegations, other prices are as normal (well I also reduced fees on bitusd because there's already a lot of spread in that market naturally, but that's probably not relevant to you).

My best advice is to be patient with the whole HF20 mess. There's no doubt it is a mess, but it will work itself out soon I suspect.

Get a Binance account. They don't even have KYC rules. The fees are meaningless with a high enough volume.

Please read this and be patient: https://steemit.com/philosophy/@tarazkp/indecision-and-indigestion
It's a simple 3-4 days of waiting. STEEM could easily be hitting $100 in the next few years. Even the market haven't negatively reacted. STEEM is the #5 highest gainer in top 100 crypto. Don't rush.

BTW: Avoid BTC as much as possible. BTC and XMR tend to have the highest Tx fees. Check https://bitinfocharts.com Dash, BCH tend to have much lower fees and faster Tx.

Very positive words @vimukthi even after 2 days of doldrums. User started to loose faith now....and its very hard to keep them intact even lately we have many dead followers....

Posted using Partiko Android

We shouldn't forget that Ethereum started off with 1/3 of their funds (50 million USD) stolen resulting in a HF and 2 competing chains and if STEEM gets to the current bear market value of ETH, we'd be looking at a 100 bagger. Just HODL STEEM and you get tiny bit of interest (effective rate was around 1.8-1.9%) + all those votes, curations etc. and then your account is going to be worth X100 more.

I look for the long term. Here is another good post I've seen: https://steemit.com/philosophy/@tarazkp/indecision-and-indigestion

Yes i saw markup post as well...very interesting one....keeping my finger crossed to see some fabulous time ahead with steem going to moon ...

BTC transactions cost some cents nowadays

Posted using Partiko Android

I don't blame you, @snowpea.

It takes some kind of gall for the witnesses to one moment implement a fork that severely impacted low SP holders and then another turn around and try to sell us something to fix it.

Not cool.

Posted using Partiko Android

It is unfortunate for accounts that have a small Sp, once they vote, they cannot post again, because of lack of RC.

I think they won't last long here, 😓😓😓

Yep, it might prevent some people from sticking around, but this problem is likely only going to be here for a week or so, so it will be a small portion of new users in total.

I don't recall reading 34 SP per 1 STEEM. Is there a real 50% OFF? Would you mind explaining?

This isn't a sale of Steem Power itself, this is a sale on the price of leasing Steem Power (a delegation works like a lease). It is a method of temporarily getting more Steem Power.

still over 20% APR lol

Thank you for the offer :-)

@blocktrades thanks for the nice offer

that's nice for now.lol

Is the offer still live?

yes, we'll leave it open for next 4 days at least, I think.

That's great.
What about the 30 day sp delegation period? Are they coming back?

Holy shit. That's amazing!

  • Comments - Ranked 7 with 66 comments
  • Pending payout - Ranked 1 with $ 45,21

Damn! I may have to jump on this!

Is the promotion still on?

yes, we will be running it for at least next 4 days while manapower is recovering

@darkflame this is really useful, make sure to capitalize on this because I have had lots of issues posting lately.

Will we able to renew 3 months later at the same price?

:D Now you are being cheeky! Same renewal price for life? :P

That be awesome, had to ask haha

No, there's no guarantee on what future prices for renewals will be. Renewal prices change with time, depending on supply and demand.

the price of the delegation remains expensive even though it has a 50% discount for the current vote....

Um... I never understood the value of these delegations. If i calculated correctly on a 100 Steem payment even if you upvoted yourself for a 100 days 10 times a day you would still be short on your original investment.
Buying steem power is a 3 month investment after which you take a loss.
Terrible value proposition.
Your steem is worth much more. Then a SP delegation.
Id probably buy only if there were a 200% discount.
I really dont understand theres a demand for this. Its basically wasting money.

If you just expect a profit by voting for yourself, you should definitely look elsewhere. Delegations can help in two ways: 1) add more attention to both your own and other's posts, which can indirectly lead to more votes on those posts if they are interesting to other voters and 2) give you more resource credits to transact more on the blockchain.

Powering up is more valuable then a delegation at that price. As is just giving money to target posts. Not tp mention tipping with bots like tipu.
Im under the impression that people buy because they dont do the math.

There's no simple math that gives an answer for what's best here. Generally, you get more attention if your post ends up higher on hot or trending, but that's a factor of not only how much SP is behind your post, but also how much is behind other posts. Ideally what you want is to put your post somewhere in the top 5, top 10, etc. If you have tons of money and plan on posting a lot (or promoting some content you like), then you may just want to buy SP. If you don't want to buy enough SP to achieve a top 10 position, you can buy a delegation and get more leverage (on a shorter time frame) to get your posts ranked higher. Or if you just want to promote a few posts, you can just buy a vote on a bidbot and get very high, extremely short-term leverage.

Each strategy has different benefits, and there's never going to be a clear winner in all cases, I think, as the best choice is based on your circumstances and the behavior of other people.

With a limited budget you should always aim for the most cost effective strategy. Regardless.. I still believe that delegation is highly overpriced.
SP has lower value then liquid steem due to the time restraint of powering down and lack of liquidity that imo isnt offset by the curation earning potential due to volatile market. Bought delegation offers even less value do to having to be returned to the delegator after set time.
Bought delegation needs to offer a positive ROI after the 3 month date comes to pass.
Otherwise its a foolish investment that impovereshes you. Thus, eventually taking away your power to have any effect on the reward distribution or being a part of the social dynamics here.
On the other hand, Powering up, Using bots(rather upvote services) creates a long term certainty of retaining influence, having a potential to empower others long term and of you being a "factor" on the steem blockchain.

I just send some $ether since I finally had my account reopened.

yes, the sale is still on

wow!!!! offer still exist ???

yes

I'm very happy to see you guys upvoting so much people and helping them be in the trending page, that's why I voted for you as a witness and I like your exchanger as well. You can check my recent post about the hard fork, it took me two days to write it.

Did you upload the right screenshot? It looks like MB delegations are still cheaper than BT.
mb.png

Edit: MB have 10% fees, so right now BT delegations are little bit cheaper.

hmm so the 50% discount is not working ?

Wait, I forgot, MB have 10% fees. I will edit my previous comment.

The fees apply to the delegator not the leaser, so what you see as leaser is what you get

I tried the same thing but wasn't so sure about the SP per Steem value. Mine was auto-populated with 150.

This is screensnip from Blocktrades.

Eth current price: $215.36
Steem Power: 4211.812
Steem Price: $1.01

Approximate cost in USD for comparable MB delegation: $364.69

According to the 150 SP / Steem, the MB delegation is 160% more expensive from the look of it.

I'm personally on the fence as to whether I would rather pay for a delegation or rather just buy Steem Power. Using the SteemNow Upvote Calculator (assuming that it is accurate), such Steem Power would give you a $0.23 upvote.

Let's do some math. If one gets 10 100% votes per day, the total STU value is $2.30 per day. For the full 90, it is $207.

Compared to anything else out there, that is pretty good but is it worth it? I suppose that depends on your goals. If a person is hoping to use such a delegation to self-vote for author rewards (Of course after 15 minutes with the new HF rules), take 60% of that $207 and you'll make about $124 assuming you don't catch any downvotes. Not a fan of self-voting so not a course I would take.

There are other perks of getting delegation besides using it to self-vote or meet minimum resource requirements to transact. I think a delegation is a good way to build a following for instance.

It is indeed a lot to consider. I think I would probably jump on it if it was a 75% discount but, with my present calculations, I think I would prefer powering up and supporting my network on the longer term. That's just me.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

According to the 150 SP / Steem, the MB delegation is 160% more expensive from the look of it.

You can easily get 225 SP/ Steem at the moment, conservatively 215 or 200. @minnowbooster is still cheaper at that rate by a good margin.

Not a fan of self-voting so not a course I would take.

Yeah, you need to mostly self-vote to profit at all. But if, like me, you buy delegations to purposely give STEEM away, it's convenient.

From an economic standpoint, the most conservative and permanent is to just buy STEEM and power up, but it's not glamorous, of course.

I think a delegation is a good way to build a following for instance.

Yes, it is excellent for that.

From an economic standpoint, the most conservative and permanent is to just buy STEEM and power up, but it's not glamorous, of course.

Couldn't agree more. Def better for the LT.

But you earn curation reward from delegations, no?

Posted using Partiko Android

Yes

Posted using Partiko Android

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Yeah, but curation is very little, even with 100k borrowed SP (yes, I tried it :-P)

If you self-voted 80-90% of the time you could probably turn a profit.

Steem price is pretty low right now and I don't think it can go any more lower. If steem rises then upvote value will increase too. Then these delegations might be worth.

Posted using Partiko Android

A little boost to curation rewards, a little more glamour, and always the off chance Steem will rise too. I've taken a small bite :)

Let's hope you are right. I think either way it's better to just buy and power up than pay for a temporary delegation but depends on your goals.

Also, takes a lot less time and effort but that is not to say a delegation cannot be used for other purposes such as promotion.

awesome of you @blocktrades to do this for the community

Hi, guys - any idea what happened to the delegation I bought 10 hours ago? Seems like the transaction went through my end, only there's no extra SP in my wallet.

We had some issues with RCs this weekend, but we've gotten it resolved and we will be processing everyone's transactions immediately.

love to see new post, yeah i can posting today and runing fine on my steemit blog, thanks for you and all teams, loe you so much.

That's very thoughtful, I'm glad you did this, it will surely help those lower accounts with delegation etc. The hardfork will work its self out soon, all good things come with time!

Resteemed

That’s a good start.
I applaud you guys.
It should be #steemit doing it for everyone just to be fair.

what is the minimum sp that can activate an account?

You have to purchase at least 2 SP worth for our system to delegate it (that's a blockchain limitation). I don't know how much you need in order to transact, but I suspect it depends on what percentage your voting power is currently at, so I don't think there's a simple formula. For guys who like to play with large numbers, here's a post that talks about required mana to post/vote right now: https://steemit.com/test/@tabris/hf-20-test-posting

You can check how much mana you have on steemd.com (i.e. steemd.com/@boyasyie)

Hi =)
I bought some Steem Power delegation from you, very nice offer, thanks for that!^^
But somehow, the delegation vanished after one or two minutes... ._.

EDIT: Ok, i see, you need to recharge, sorry..^^

Just fyi, your delegation is active now.

@blocktrades I have been using your guys’ services since I started on Steem back in December. Just heard about your affiliate program as well which I will definitely get acquainted with and shoot a video review to help gain you more exposure. Appreciate what you all are doing for this community 👍🏻

This is a great opportunity and we thank you very much @blocktrades, as it mainly benefits the minnows. Also beneficial for the date, foreseeing that we have a great December with the rise of crypts, this investment can generate profits, contrary to the past, which hardly recovered the investment ...
