My 2018: Achievements and Failures - Best Year Yet!

in blocktradescontest •  6 years ago

It seems like just yesterday @anomadsoul and @blocktrades were putting on the #my2018 contest for the beginning of the year. A lot has happened since then and it has been a joy to walk down memory lane and remember some of the best and worst parts of 2018. If you would like to take part in the contest either check my resteems or go here for the original post.

Olivia Kay King Huge Win

The highlight of my year and the best part by far was meeting my beautiful baby daughter Olivia Kay King in April. She came to us in the morning and without any major issues. She didn't get to sit under the lights like her brother due to high bilirubin counts and was born exactly when she was supposed to. This beautiful baby girl has been a blessing ever since.

A few weeks after she was born we found out she has hypothyroidism if I remember correctly. Her thyroid is small and a little higher than where it's supposed to be. While we've had many people try and comfort us by saying she may grow out of this, from everything my wife and I have read, it's a lifelong condition.

She'll have to remember to take 1 pill a day for the rest of her life. While we are very lucky in that it wasn't one of the many other childbirth problems she could have had, it does suck more than I thought it would try to remember to give her a pill once a day. I pray for her every night as I assume this is something she will struggle with when she gets into high school and college and goes out on her own.

@steembay, #steemsilvergold, and Crypto Neutral

I was able to add to my silver stack this year. In part thanks to @coolbowser, bought #10 Steem Silver Round, @stnwllstrtgc for an awesome 2009 1oz American Eagle, and @sevinwilson for the awesome 2018 Steem Silver Rounds just to name a few. It was an awesome feeling taking some crypto profits to purchase most of these on @steembay.

One of my biggest failures was not taking profits during the peak of the bull run. That is one thing I hope to have learned before the next run is never to be afraid to take profits especially when prices and markets are hitting all-time highs. I have done a terrible time so far preserving the value of my crypto and watched it go from around $8k at the peak to $800 now.

Trading crypto and finding ways to save/make money has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. To be more specific finding ways to make income passively to get to a point where I can enjoy my life without having to worry about going to a 9 to 5 job every day or a company laying me off. I like time reading about investing, finance, economics, etc.

Working Out and Health = Failure

Working out has been one of my biggest failures of 2018. I started off strong working out with my father in law in early 2018 and really have not done much for my health or working out since probably January or February. Plus, putting this as one of my failures allows me to post a topless photo of me which is one of my #guiltypleasures

I'm not as brave as @anomadsoul posting a current picture of my self in my more round shape, but I've been wanting an excuse to post a topless picture ever since @anomadsoul posted his. Hopefully, this is one of the things I can change in 2019 is to take better care of myself and my health.

Family Huge Win

My wife put on an amazing 3rd birthday party for my son Paul. It was a Blaze themed party with an impossible to bust star pinata, face painting, and all around 3-year-old excitement. I helped, but she definitely did a majority of the work putting everything together.

My wife is starting her journey on real-estate investing, flipping, and wholesaling as can be read here. She has completed two trainings, has signed up for her 1 on 1 mentor training, and we're currently booking tickets to her real estate networking event in Las Vegas.

We also were able to visit my family down in Texas for Thanksgiving, went to a pumpkin patch and trick or treating for halloween, picked up eggs for easter, and went to the drive in for my birthday. We weren't able to view the fireworks as I had to work over the 4th of July, but think this year has been a great success for us.

Job Failure

While on paper getting moved to a new job was a failure, being able to work more time for extra time off and extra pay has allowed us to attend the real estate investing trainings with my wife as a family and to afford the classes. Unfortunately poor performance on the job, probably due to too much time on Steemit ><, is what led to the move.

Pokemon Go Acheivement!?

Pokemon Go has definitely been a HUGE #guiltypleasure for me over the past few years. I have spent a lot of time going to and coming home from work trying to "Catch Them All" and have been able to accumulate some perfect IV and shiny pokemons this year as well as almost finishing the Gen 1 Pokedex.

Ready for 2019

Well, that about wraps it up I think. I'm sure there are some things that I'm forgetting about like the 1 year anniversary of SteemChurch that was just celebrated recently congrats everyone and the 1 year anniversary being married to my beautiful wife! 2018 was overall an unforgettable year and one of the best years yet. How was your 2018?

I've been looking into playing Pokemon go again, I played it a lot in the beginning but then I started traveling and that meant no cellphone data :(

I liked seeing the U.S. IKE Dollars in your Collection...
