The Group Stage analysis: Group B

With less than 2 hours until the biggest sports event of the year starts, we decided to bring you a small analysis of the 8 world cup groups and our predictions of how good they´ll do.

Now, we bring you Group B.

PORTUGAL:

The latest Euro Cup Champions, the Portuguese team gets to Russia with the highest morale ever after conquering the cup celebrated in France in 2016, a result that impressed everyone who watched on one of the hardest matches ever against the host team. This match was won based on great team work and orde on every line of the field, with the handicap of not counting with their best man and captain, Cristiano Ronaldo who left early on due to an injury; this situation helped to clarify that even thought Cristiano is the best Lusitan man on the field, Portugal as a team do not depend on him to win hard games.

Today, for the first time in quite a while, Portugal´s team counts on their lines top tier players to help Ronaldo balance the every game against some of the best teams in case they reach the knockout stage... players like Bernanrdo Silva from Manchester City, Joao Mario from West Ham, Pepe ex Real Madrid, Goncalo Guedes from PSG, and Ricardo Quaresma... It will be very interesting to see how this group of players develop as the games keep coming.

Head Coach: Fernando Santos
Captain: Cristiano Ronaldo
Stars: Cristiano Ronaldo
Participations: 7
Best place: Third place

SPAIN:

In the modern times, the red one has always been a solid candidate to winning the world cup, not only because of its individually skilled players but also due to the great team work they´ve managed to achieve. The team´s playing style is the same throughout all their divisions, from the children division through the under-17 and under-21 to the profesional team. The spanish team who won the 2010 South Africa world cup is not the same playing today, but even so, Spain is aiming high on this tournament and we expect them to reach the final match in order to not call their participation a failure. Lead by the historic veteran Andres Iniesta, who is probably playing his last official tournament, along with the shooting star Isco and the two Sergios (Ramos and Busquets), Spain will strive to find a balance between the younglings and the sport veterans and win their 2nd world cup.

Head Coach: Julen Lopetegui
Captain: Sergio Ramos
Stars: Andres Iniesta
Participations: 15
Best place: Champions (2010)
How long will they go?: Semifinals

MOROCCO:

Despite having a long history in football, Morocco hasn´t managed to trascend once on an international level excepting that African cup they won in 1998 and reaching the final game of the same tournament in 2004.

This will be their 5th world cup and the Marrakesh team are striving to have a good performance based on colective effort and perhaps reaching the knockout stage, a scenario that seems pretty hard due to them sharing the same group with Spain and Portugal. The Marrakesh head coach will have to pull every ace of his sleeve and to bring out the best of each of his players if he wants to surprise every one.

Head Coach: Hervé Renard
Captain: Mehdi Benatia
Stars: Nordin Amrabat
Participations: 5
Best place: Best 16

IRAN:

The same as Morocco, Iran is also playing its 5th world cup and even though they´ve never gone farther than the group stage, this year the fans are expecting them trascend on this hard group and to give the people the happiness of reaching the knockout stage for the first time ever. The three consecutive times Champion of the Asian cup, Iran has step by step lost the protagonism they used to have, nonetheless, in recent times they became a usual team joining the world cup every four years and no team should be too confident about easily beating the Iranians, where teams without any stars whatsoever have reached the very last stage based on effort discipline and courage.

Several Iranian players play in European clubs, so they already know how it is to play on an internaional level and they won´t be intimidated, some of them play are starters in the Russian, Dutch and Greel leagues.

Head Coach: Carlos Queiroz
Captain: Masoud Shojaei
Stars: Ehjsan Hajsafi
Participations: 5
Best place: Group Stage

Thanks for the group Stage analysis

Curious to see what kind of influence the head coach change with Spain shall have!
Remember last World cup the couldn't reach the second round!
If one team can upset Spain or Portugal, it will be Morocco!

Cheers,
Peter

This is easy pick. Portugal and Spain.

Head Coach: Julen Lopetegui

MUPPET FLASH NEWS! Lopetegui sacked! It's Fernando Hierro. Spain, with its internal political problems and sacking the coach minute before the start, has fine chances to be the disappointment No1.

I think spain make be hard word to champion this group
