A short post about life, and a catsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hello, fellow steemians! I don't have much to post about today for my garden or greenhouse today. Things have slowed down here quite a bit. I picked beans today and got about a double handfull. The pole beans are about the only plants producing now, the bush beans are gone, and the yellow beans are just about done producing. I still have a fair amount of tomatoes on the plants, but they're not ready to pick right now. I won't start digging the potatoes in my garden for another 2-3 weeks yet.
I gave away 5 big zucchinis to a friend in return for a loaf of zucchini bread. I'm looking forward to that! :-)

I finally got up to the community garden this afternoon after not having been there for about 2 weeks. The grass really needs to be cut around my plot, and all the red potatoes have died back now. I guess I'll be digging them in the near future. I'll probably do a post about that.

I really need to give my upvote power a rest, it never recovers past about 55% now. My problem is that I like reading other people's posts and upvoting them if I like them. That's my criteria for an upvote, if I like it, I upvote it. Of course, that tends to run down my upvote strength percentage. Oh well...

Now on to the cat. A few days ago, I posted about my catfish, basically my black cat in my empty new aquarium. First, I'll tell you about the aquarium. I bought this aquarium because of it's size and shape, and the fact that it holds 40 gallons of water. This tank is 36 inches long by 18 inches wide by 17 inches tall. It's basically a short, wide tank. We were trying to decide what to keep the pond plants in for the winter so they wouldn't freeze and die. We have water lettuce, water hyacinth, and a papyrus plant, none of which would live through the winter and come back in the spring. We were going to use a small tank of some kind to keep them in the house for the winter. I saw this tank at the local pet shop, and it was on a really good sale, 50% off the regular price. That was enough to make up my mind. So we set up the tank on a stand that I built a few days after I bought the tank, and filled it with water and the plants that we wanted to save. Because the papyrus sticks up out of the tank about 2 feet or so, there's no lid on the tank. The cat finds this to be fascinating.

Funny cat. I was waiting for her to fall in, but she is very agile. Lol🐓🐓

She's also very careful when she's walking on the rim of the tank. :-)

I will bet she is very careful. Oops! Splash!🐓🐓

I love aquariums and this is the best use for one other than just raising fish lol

Kitty! I love these shots of your cat checking the situation out. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!

I always wondered what folks did with their pond fish and plants over the winter... nifty solution!

The cat is going to be providing a good source of entertainment if the curiosity holds.

That's true. She slips off the rim and dips a foot in the water sometimes. She doesn't like that very much. :-)

The aquarium looks awesome like that! I need to do the same, bring my water plants in for winter. Might have to come up with something similar... but I don't have the cute cat to balance on the edges (;

You might be surprised to find out how easy it is to get a cat. LOL
