UK Stabbings, What is wrong with these people?

After watching the UK news, They brought the figures in about how many stabbings has happened in the UK this year.

I was shocked to see that there has already been over 100 people have been stabbed since the start of 2019 and this figure will rise as the year comes to an end.

I am coming to 37 years old in a few weeks and I am scared, not for myself but more for my kids futures as it seems like these crimes are happening more and more.

When I was a young lad, we played war, crawling across the floor with a stick pretending to shoot are friends.

I grew up and I have never thought about hurting anyone in anyway, and that is the way I am bringing my children up.

When I lived in the rougher area of sheffield knife crime was known in the area, there was two young lads who got into an altercation and one lost his life at the age of 15.

While in the local cafe some of the people in there were talking about it and everybody who spoke was expressing there concerns about what had happened.

One of them new the mum of one of the boys, she stated that she was told that the lads had knives on them at it was a gang v gang kind of life they had to live.

Is this something that is happening on the streets? I have seen riots on my own front door and I can honestly say that gang wars are happening in sheffield.

So what can we do to bring an end to this era of knife crime?
I have my own thought about this, they maybe wrong and some might disagree.

1. Bring back national service,
   National service would teach these young people a trade, respect and keep them off the streets, this to me would give these people a purpose in life, instead of walking and fighting on the streets.

2. higher punishments for people carrying knives.
   If you are caught with a knife then you should pay for this offence, prison doesn't cut it with me, re-educating people does.

3. More police presence.
   You never see a bobby walking the beat anymore, why? budget cuts have made times so much different to the good old days when there was a bobby walking your area making you feel safe.
   There is a police station close to me and they only have 6 police officers working there, where are the rest? well you tell me.

4. Educate them at school.
   Life is all about learning, what is the point in having an assembly with all the students when someone has lost their life, why not address this earlier before these people hit the streets.

I am not saying that this would stop knife crime from happening, All I am wanting is a safer place for my kids to be, We shouldn't have to worry about our kids going to the shop and them never coming home.

It is upsetting that this is happening, my heart goes out to all the people out there who has lost someone through this act.

Peace should be our number one goal.
