Using Junk, Broken Glass, thanks to an Idea by @papa-pepper

If you follow @papa-pepper you will know he is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to homesteading. and since I found him on steemit I have been following along on his journey of self builds homesteading and even contests.

Sometimes while I am reading his post, (yes i can read) I find something that I find really useful and want to put in place for myself.

a few days ago @papa-pepper did a post about reusing broken glass, you can read that post here https://steemit.com/creative/@papa-pepper/using-junk-episode-1-broken-glass

I read and watched the video, then thought to myself, I can do something like that, Now the difference between what he did and what I have done is I used broken plastic.

I am always looking for new things to do with things as I am big into upcycling recycling so after reading @papa-peppers post I knew that I could do something with my junk plastic sheet.

I don't even know where the plastic came from it was just in my yard, So I have had plans to make a fish tank stand, and a lid, this plastic then came into place for the build of the lid to the tank.

I started to make a frame out of some wood that had come from a pallet that I had taken apart while doing another build.

Then I cut the plastic down to take away the odd shape, and sanded down the edges, I then sandwiched the plastic between 4 pieces of wood to make a frame from it, when I made this it was pretty easy, and the plastic came in use.

So thank you @papa-pepper, this bit of plastic would have made it to the plastic bin pile if I had not read your post about junk glass..

I have now got the job of sanding it and painting it to make it look nice before it goes on top of the fish tank.

Thanks @papa-pepper for the gif :D

LOVE that you were able to take an idea from someone else, customize it to your own needs and create your own thing!
Second- awesome that you re-purposed not only the plastic you had lying around but you also utilized the pallets. Pallets are so versatile (and hard to come by around me). I want to make a BBQ table to set all my utensils, trays, etc on and I refuse to pay the over-priced amounts they want for flimsy construction. But first.. I need to find two or three decent pallets.

Thank you @goldendawne, if you didn't live over in the great us of a I would have happily made you one and brought/sent it to you.
I have really got the bug for this now and to top it all off I have a friend who has come forward who I haven't spoken too in years who has said I can have as many pallets as I want from his company, (kitchens) all I have to do is collect them.

I was a little lost when I first started looking for pallets, I don't know where you are in the USA but if you go to places like supermarkets and ask, they normally have them in the back area, or even garden centers, or I know that some people sell them on eBay over here in the UK.
it's worth just looking around for.
thanks for stopping by :D

hard to come by around me

Take a peek behind a few local stores, often, if you ask the manager, they'll let you have them. We've had pretty good success.

Wow man! Excellent work! This is impressive, way to see potential and improvise!

cheers @papa-pepper it means the world coming from you :D

RESTEEM!

LEGEND!!!!!!!!!! :D

Good job @artonmysleeve I really like your work and its a great use to recycle some of the plastic that we can find everywhere. Keep on re-using things that others would have thrown away!!!

I have a few more ideas of my own, but @papa-pepper is the bomb when it comes to gardening and homesteading
thank you :D

You are a very creative friend, follow in the footsteps of @papa-lada who has many brilliant ideas and he is very active in all fields.

He is great and lives 4,325 miles from me but I am a big follower of his and I like a lot of his stuff he does. he did a post saying he is still learning, and I am, I tend to do things my own way but when I see something I like I do copy and it seems to work for me. it is great fun. thanks for copying

Yes, I think there are many things that must be emulated from her ... she is truly creative and always has a brilliant idea.
