Physical changes in grasshopper

In the midst of the chaos of the Covid 19 epidemic that is sweeping the world as it is today, I still carry out activities as usual, in the midst of lockdowns in our area I still have time to study and share the available knowledge even though there is little to understand together.

Still in the same discussion about insect species that are in our surroundings, this grasshopper photo is one of the many grasshoppers that I freeze with my cellphone precisely in a location that is isolated by the village area or rather in a small park of residents who deliberately put it to the beauty of our district.

This small park has long been abandoned or no longer preserved by residents due to lack of funds, but lately a lot of insect species have settled in the region in the midst of this tense situation. One species of insect that has the top order is grasshoppers that are getting more and more day by day.

But its size is different from the size of grasshoppers in general that can surprise you when you see it. The posture remains the same, does not have the slightest change, but the difference is its size, so it will be mentioned the size of grasshopper found in the area as shown in the table below.

You can predict the body size of the grasshopper by looking at the size of the leaf and the body of the grasshopper itself that almost fills the entire leaf. In my experience or in general the grasshopper itself has an average length of 3 inches and the weight has only 0.3 or 0.2 gr, but the grasshopper in this post has a size larger than ordinary grasshoppers in general.

Then the population also increased when compared to previous years, if last year the population reached tens of tails on each of these plants, maybe today it has reached hundreds of tails.

This is very clearly seen when we are in the planting area, because they are always found in each branch, if last year searching was rather difficult then today they can be found easily, because it is seen perched on every leaf or tree trunk of the plant.

Not yet known the cause of changes in the body of these insects both in terms of size or increase in their population.

This only happens in the midst of a world atmosphere hit by disasters like Covid 19 and when people panic. But there are oddities in this locust, they do not move places or find other locations, maybe this is still a lot of host plants in the area. So some residents do not eradicate plants in the park because if they are eradicated they will move to other areas where there are evergreen or growing plants.

Hopefully the change in grasshopper habitat in this area does not affect others, or their presence will not be a thing that can harm others. This alone can hopefully be added to your scientific insight. Thank you very much.
