Hisar Antik Kenti diğer adıyla Amorium Antik Kenti, Afyon ili sınırları içerisinde olsa da merkeze 70 km uzaklıktadır. Konum olarak Ankara ile Afyon arasında bulunmaktadır.
M.Ö. 2000li yıllardan itibaren birçok kültüre ev sahipliği etmiştir: Hitit, Phryg, Yunan, Roma, Bizans Selçuklu ve son olarak da Osmanlı.
Hisar Antik Kenti, yukarı ve aşağı şehir olmak üzere iki bölgeden oluşmaktadır.
Yukarı şehirde, hala Bizans dönemine ait sur duvarlarının kalıntılarını bulabilirsiniz.
Aşağı şehirde ise tüm şehri kuşatan bir koruma duvarı bulunmaktadır.
Hisar Antik Kenti, Roma Senatosu tarafından kendi parasını basma izni verilen ilk şehir olması açısından ayrı bir öneme sahiptir.
Bu kent, aynı zamanda belirli zamanlarda düzenlenen festival ve fuarlar sayesinde önemli bir ticaret merkezi olmuştur.
Hisar Antik Kenti ile alakalı ilk çalışmaları 1987 yılında Prof.Dr.R.Martin Harrison başlatmış ve sonrasında 1992 yılına kadar devam ettirmiştir.
Sonrasında kentin bir projeye dönüşmesiyle çalışmalar, 1993 ile 2009 yılları arasında Dr.Chris Lightfoot tarafından devam ettirilmiştir.
Kalıntılardan kent içerisinde kilise, vaftizhane ve birçok mezarın olduğu anlaşılmıştır.
