Well...what's happened in 3 days?
Hubs got bit by the neighbor's dog. They have a boxer who is constantly running around off leash. I know there have been complaints because I've seen animal control over there before. Normally, when you try to approach him, he just runs. He's always 'breaking his chain', as the neighbor suggested this last time he was out, but I don't buy it. If you know it's a problem, try another solution...like not just letting him out alone?
Anyway, off Hubs went for an evening stroll with Orbit, when I heard voices in the yard. I look out to see the Boxer in the yard, then I see the neighbor...so I go out to help wrangle the dog, to see Hubs coming back to the house, carrying Orbit saying 'let me just assess the situation'. I thought Orbit got bit. But instead, Hubs takes his long sleeves off to reveal a very gross wound. Orbit will not stop barking, and tries to bite me as I check him for wounds.
Hubs' wound is deep enough to expose parts of his tricep that should be inside. I thought it was bone, but turns out it was a little ball of fat!
Off we went to Urgent Care as the neighbor stands in the street crying 'he's never done this before!'
'Well, we're going to the doctor, so this will have to wait.'
So they couldn't stitch for fear of infection and he had to get a tetanus shot. We've not looked at it since the incident, as it needs to stay covered and dry for 3 days so that the 'steristrips' can keep the wound closed to heal.
Orbit was unharmed. Basically, Hubs picked him up as the Boxer charged him so his arm got bit to keep Orbit from getting bit.
We are good friends with the animal control officer, and she of course had to visit us, as all dog bites need to be reported. She said, 'good thing he has no tail to grab.'
We're taking him to the park today to see if he was scared mentally from the attack...
He seems unchanged, around the house though.
In other news, I've lost 4 pounds by cutting our sugar (for the most part) and refined carbs (for the most part) over the past 12 days or so. I still indulge in pizza once a week (friday nights are pizza night!) and had a beer with my pizza at a charity bowling event last night.
This is what we had to wear! Lame.
The 131 Method I'm doing again is amazing to me. I need set plans and I like the idea of diet phasing to keep out of homeostasis. I'm still in the first phase, which I'm thinking of extending now that I got my workbook to track things, but I may also just keep going but transpose my lame notes from the past 2 weeks, into the workbook...
!
Skating on Thursdays is making for a very sleepy me, at work, on Fridays, but I think it's worth it to get me out of the house. I'm slowly becoming me again, as I fit the dog into my life rather than the other way around.
I would say: it's death and birth

I hope your husband's wound heals cleanly! That sucks that the neighbor does such a poor job managing their dog.

thank you. the bruise is at the yellow-green stage so it seems things are on track ;) he's kind of a baby about things like this so it is hard to tell if it really hurts of if it only 'man' hurts ;) haha. we're just trying to keep infection out.
