Traveler & Writer

Now my introduction has been made, I need to talk a little bit about my way of traveling and how I write it.

(Guinness Storehouse 3rd Floor - September 2016)

This picture with the clocks represents me perfectly when I travel, or rather when I traveled a few years ago. When it’s about going to a place that I do not know, I do a lot of research beforehand, to find out where I'm going to sleep, to eat, what I'm going to visit, etc. For my first trip alone in Berlin, I had even made a schedule to the nearest second. But it was during this stay in Berlin, and then in Dublin a little after, that I learned to let go and let myself be carried by the moment. And it's really wonderful.

However, there are some things that never leave me when I travel.

(Le Routard guides)

I am old-school, I like the feeling and smell of paper books and I love losing my way trying to read a map. Besides, asking someone for directions is a way of exchanging a few words with locals, but it is also the possibility of sharing smiles. And when traveling alone, a smile can change a whole day!

(The famous Notebook)

This little notebook is a mix between a logbook and a diary. I write inside the story of my days, the little details that marked me, anecdotes, my thoughts, or notes for later. It is from there that I draw my inspiration to write my articles.
And I must say that it stirs curiosity this little notebook, I do not count the times when I heard: "Can I read it?". But the answer is still “"No, no, no, little curious ... Sorry!"

I must admit that my phone never leaves me either ... But it's only to take pictures, and to answer my friends, my family, and go on social networks, and ... Well, I'm always on my phone, I admit everything!

And so if one day you come across a girl with strange glasses who holds a "Guide du Routard", a notebook and her phone, it's probably me, do not hesitate to come say hello!

(Das blaue vom Himmel)

And finally, after my travels, there is the return home and that is where the writing begins. It is not always easy because I have to dive back into my journeys and I often find myself carried away by nostalgia. But I think what makes a good writer is his/her ability to use his/her feelings and to do something about it. That's why I try to work with my heart on my articles and it takes a little time for it sometimes.

I hope you enjoyed discovering a little more, and promised I'll be back soon with articles on Caen, Brussels, Vienna, Frankfurt, ... filled with good addresses, anecdotes and more.

Bis bald,

Bertille
