Today I want to leave you with a little information about the heart, it is a very important organ for the living being, of that there is no doubt

RELEVANT ASPECT

The heart and lungs work together to keep the body's cells oxygenated.
In the circulatory process, the heart pumps oxygen-deficient blood to the lungs and then receives oxygenated blood from the lungs for distribution to the rest of the body.

Often, the heart can be damaged due to heart disease or trauma. To repair the damage, open heart surgery may be necessary, where the thorax is opened to expose the heart. In some open heart procedures, sometimes, it is necessary to stop the heart to repair the heart muscle, valves or other structures. The extracorporeal circulation pump allows the surgeon to stop the heart carefully without interrupting blood circulation.

This machine consists of a pump, which fulfills the function of the heart, and an oxygenator, which fulfills the function of the lungs.

In bypass with extracorporeal circulation, oxygen deficient blood is diverted from the upper chambers of the heart, to be conducted to a chamber in the extracorporeal circulation pump. Then the blood is transferred to an oxygenator, where it is oxygenated. The pump drives the blood back into the patient's arterial system, and the body continues the blood circulation on its own. After repair, the heart is restarted and the extracorporeal circulation pump is removed.
