Blog 29-April-2018 : Do You Agree With Thanos?

in blog •  7 years ago

Hi anyone reading, good day to you.

Two days ago I just watched Avengers: Infinity War with my girlfriend, the movie is good in my opinion but what captivated me is Thanos' quest or purpose. I understand that Thanos is the villain in the movie, however I actually agree on his purpose in the movie although it's debatable. Without any spoiler, his purpose is to wipe out half of the humanity for the salvation of the universe from its doom of over population. Talking about earth alone, humanity is indeed destroying this earth more from efforts like deforestation, pollution, global warming, etc which is a direct correlation from human population. A simple example will be due to the increasing amount of population, more land is needed for housing and agriculture to accommodate the population which leads to deforestation. Increasing population also lead to increase of pollution and waste, more population means more transport, more plastic waste, more factory production and so on, I'm sure you will get the idea.

Although morally unacceptable, wiping half of population will decelerate growth of destruction to this planet, however it is actually not the long term solution. Humanity will reproduce again and catch up to the population before wiped as time goes by, resetting again is a quick solution but there is a better solution although it's extremely difficult. Self awareness and initiative to treat this world better is the best way to decelerate growth of destruction without going against the moral dilemma, however human mind is by nature selfish and short minded. Most humans don't care about this earth getting destroyed by their action, although presented with research and facts most humans will not bother to care to leave their comfort zone as the effect of the damage to this earth has not affected them in a significant way yet, however this does not mean that it won't affect the future generation. It will be almost impossible for humans to stop cutting down trees and planting more trees, care about environment like reducing plastic waste and carbon emission, controlling population and more. Accepting the impossibility and not ever dreaming of changing the nature of humanity, I partially agree with Thanos' quest to shoulder all the burdens and sins to the decelerate destruction, and if needed for the reset to be performed every time required. I know it is very devastating and cruel thus the moral dilemma, but objectively speaking without factoring compassion, love, etc it is the most efficient way. I don't fully agree to Thanos' quest due to the humanity in me, but the heartless logic in me agrees with Thanos' quest.
