Just bought my MacBook!

in blog •  7 years ago

So after using Windows for all my life, I finally bought my first Mac and I'm making the switch. This has been a huge dilemma for me as I was bound to the Windows eco-system and Macs are very expensive. However, recently I started making more and more videos (almost 1 a day!) and I realised that moving to MacOS will allow me to improve my video editing.

I'm also going to do a lot more travelling this month and I wanted something that I can edit videos on (so I can still make my daily videos, even on the go)

Thank you Steemit

I would like to thank everyone who helped me make this decision, from supporting me on the change and advising what model to get. This is community has been amazing to me and I hope to use this computer to make more contributions to Steemit (better videos!). Now its time to buy Final Cut X

Good on you Michael. You deserve it. Enjoy your new mac. Have been following you on youtube from the very first video in march (I think it was march). And I recommend everyone in my neighbourhood who is getting into crypto to watch your channel as a sort of homework task. Lol. You are one of their first assignments of many. Lol.
These are amazing times and I am making more money on crypto than I make on my regular job.

This is huge, boxmining making better videos when the videos are already good. Can't wait.

welcome to using macOs. you'll find it's a lot easier to just plod on with work. no double thinking with everything, where as windows it was at times.

Yeah and battery life seems pretty amazing!

it does allow plenty of usage.. video can be a bit hungry, with the older books. they might hae fixed it with the newer models. still a dream to work with.

Finally you started to work on an operating system! :)

Your life will be easier!

I don't know... A Mac is like a safety sandbox with a bunch of limitations. Windows is crappy but, you have possibilities. Linux is harder to use but the sky is the limit. Really depends what you want the computer for. Also software for the Mac is expensive! Anyways, they are pretty solid and easy to use! Enjoy :D

Yes Linux!
It is also much more user or beginner friendly now.
But you still have the option to into the expert tweaks and modify how you need it.

Congrats man!! i have the same :)) Is is nice to see mining data, pools and an exodus wallet on a retina screen :)) always pleasant hehe enjoy your new toy!! Cheers!

Macbooks pro are just awesome, everything work and you don't have to worry about those stupid things that can happen. The best part is that if you ever wished to switch back to windows, you can always dual boot it :)

True that. I have a MacBook Pro myself and I've using Apple laptops since 2001. I haven't looked back even once in all those years.

Just did the Bootcamp stuff, so I don't have to worry about partitioning in the future. Got windows 10 on it now too!

Congrats! I was looking to buy one myself

Go with Adobe Premiere

YEEEESSS!!!!! I'm so glad that you did, Michael! Welcome to the light side! ;) I promise you won't regret it.

Looking forward to the new videos!

I love apple products! Just wish I could afford them!lol

I stood in front of a new Macbook yesterday just starring at it. I swear I heard my name whispered 3 times. It was my wife. :/

Same thing happened to me. Now I'm married to my MacBook! :D

HAHAHA its a beauty for sure. I got it on discount (2016 model, instead of 2017)

Finally, congrats buddy! Enjoy :-)

it's going to be more functional for what you're using it for. everything has it's place. maybe I'll get even better vids from you. I like them for part of my daily crypto news

Hey man, I have a touchbar macbook pro as well. And FCPX is just a breeze with it.

Enjoy the invest

I feel like my MBP is my most powerful tool to make money - here on Steemit for example.

Exactly, if can increase productivity and quality of content! then done deal!

Like with any tool, you need to know how to use it to get maximum productivity. But you're a bright kid, you can figure it out ;)

Shortcuts on the Mac are so beneficial to learn.

what a handsome fella mac-ceptioning the steemit community. Love it

It's a great computer to tripple boot mac, windows, and linux with!

cool to hear these news :) I always watch your videos they are a good way to euducate on the Crypto topic. @boxmining

Well Done on your purchase, remember a few key things 1. always treat your mac book with the most care you can 2. if your rendering video keep it in a cool place 3. your in a closed ecosystem now connections need dongles to interact with out of ecosystem products 4. there is an alternative program for everything in windows! ... (except some things) 5. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY

You deserve in having a mac @boxmining for the reason of you make use of your time to support the crypto community with your one-way discussions about cryptocurrency topics and news.

Welcome to the Mac World lol! You can still have windows on your Mac if you want. Nice I have Final Cut X, but I don't fully understand it. Great post!

Have you never considered linux?

Congratulation ...

Welcome to the club. You can still have your Windows experience, if you want: run Parallels or VirtualBox and have a Windows VM.

congrats @boxmining!

Welcome to the club! :)
It took me about two weeks to get used to the much easier MacOs, but I would never switch back again. The main reason, that it took so long was that I still thought every step to complicated (in a windows way).
Have fun with your new "toy"! 😉

Congrats, Michael. You deserve it. Looking forward to even better videos from you? Is it possible?

I think I've been exclusively Mac for more than 6 years now though I still own some Windows machines (which I'm no longer using)

There's all this condescending talk of being "Apple fanboys" but I see it more like being simplicity and productivity fanboys lol. The thing about Apple stuff is that they SIMPLY JUST WORK.

Enjoy your purchase!

Congrats! No doubt you will enjoy your macbook.

Hi Michael, did you end up buying the used 15" MBP you wrote about or a new one? What exactly did you buy? Thanks bro. @boxmining

Very good choice,
OS X is pretty amazing to work with.
Video, image, development you'll be in heaven :)

Welcome to mac I love it I have used mac for 10 years now

This is some change in your life you'll never regret! :)
Since I changed to Mac I never had any more stability problems, I open the laptop and I am working right away... The media software is the best in the world, like iMovie, Final Cut, Logic Pro, etc.
You'll love it, I am sure! :) Enjoy!

You make great vids and your crypto knowledge is amazing....this choice tho....I cant get behind.....so long as you didn't have to pay the ridiculous markup that mac charges u will be good.

Happy editing! It take a bit to get used to but you'll be better off with mac.

Im still a Windows and Linux guy....... part of my job is to support Apple computers... I may take the plunge and goto apple soon.. for some of the same reasons you mention ...
