HINT OF WINTER

Recently I was lucky enough to make a trip to Michigan to see my parents. They warned me it had been hovering near 0 degrees for the previous week and suggested I pack my warmest clothes. Given it doesn't get that cold in my part of California, I didn't have a heavy jacket or thick sweaters to prepare. Instead I took a layered approach equating to leggings under jeans and t-shirts under long sleeves under the heaviest coat I have, a black leather jacket with a hood.

For this shoot though things had started to warm up and much of the snow melted. Taking advantage of the improved weather, my friend Kwai and I made a trip to the local river where we took a more stylized approach of presenting the clothes. All the images are overlayed with the Japanese graphic found on the t-shirt and tinted slightly blue to emphasize the relationship between the hair and the environment.

As for the clothes themselves. The idea was to create symmetry from the bottom half to the top half: blue hair with blue jeans, black jacket with black boots, and a neutral white shirt in between. Notice there are only three colors going on in the whole fit. This is to help prevent clashing and keep the outfit coherent. Overall, the vibe is simple and outdoorsy like the scene involved. I even got to take the jacket off for a minute and not freeze which was a pleasant surprise for a winter day in Michigan.
