Preparing for a Drought

Hi would you like to know how to prepare for a drought? Droughts have caused 11,000,000 deaths since the 1900s. It affects not only everyday citizens in each city, but it affects animals, plants, and the farms growing our foods.

Signs of a Drought

Then there are the many signs of a drought. One sign of a drought includes the water levels of lakes and rivers. Low levels of water is a sign that its time to prepare. Another sign that its time to prepare for a drought is an abnormal climate change. If it normally snows during a season in the state you live in, and you notice no snow for a long period of time that means its time to take action. Signs of a drought also include a lack of rainfall, dry brown grass, and large numbers of forest fires.

Saving Water

Last but not least it is important to save as much water as possible. I believe it's best to save at least 4 gallons of water. When all signs of a drought are present buy water bottles. I'd buy water bottles by the dozen. Water bottles are safe for consumption for up to 6 months. If a water bottle is left open with no bottle cap, and its been refrigerated or overheated I'd dispose of it immediately. Water bottles with no bottle cap can become contaminated with bacteria within 24 hours, which can occur quickly no matter where you store it in your home. Save filtered water by the gallon, and save water in buckets for washing you vehicle, washing up, brushing your teeth, or feeding your animals. Please comment if you have any questions, or important tips for preparing for droughts that I may have missed.
