Triple Digit Follower Milestone!

in blog •  7 years ago  (edited)

It's been a little over a month since I first started blogging, started my research and began posting to Steem regularly. As I was settling into bed, I noticed my follower count has officially reached the triple digits, one hundred followers!

I'm very happy overall, and would like to take this opportunity to step away from my more technical posts and have a more casual conversation about my experience with Steem so far.

Overall, Steem and Steemit has been a huge learning curve! There was a lot more to how everything worked under the hood than I realized at first, which caught me off guard. I've met some really amazing people here, some from the other side of the world, and others closer to home than I ever expected. Although I definitely think there's a few things that could be tweaked, Steemit as a whole has been a wonderful experience!

I have found a few different awesome Steem communities and projects. Some I use frequently, others occasionally, and a few I've only tried once to see. With so many cool projects it's hard to pick, however, two favourite Steem communities and projects so far are:

utopian.io

First and foremost, I absolutely adore the @utopian-io (utopian.io) project. I think it's absolutely brilliant. Creating and publishing open source contributions is an insanely important job, however for many creating these contributions is strictly a labour of love. Rewarding these folks and creating an incentive to share your contributions to society is a much needed cultural shift in this realm in order to encourage more people to join and push the boundaries further. I'm contributing through @utopian-io with my Seed blockchain research project, and am insanely excited to continue!

minnowsupportproject.org

My favourite group is @minnowsupport (minnowsupportproject.org). This group has been absolutely amazing. They help bring minnows together to network and chat, bringing a much needed human touch to this blockchain ecosystem. I've met some really amazing people through them. The community and moderators were insanely helpful in getting me off my feet! I highly recommend any minnows who are feeling a bit lost come say hello! Here's an invite to the Discord group

Overall, I've had a great time so far and plan on settling in here, making it my new home. To celebrate this milestone, I've purchased about 75 more SP to Power Up and make another investment into the platform. Thank you to everyone who's followed and supported me thus far. Here's to many more months and years!
