My Worst Spam/Troll Moments...with Proof

So today I'd frankly about had enough of all the damn trolling and spamming. The upvote for upvote/follow for follow shit is like everywhere and I normally flag/ignore it and move on. If the person made a somewhat productive comment about my actual post I usually don't flag. Otherwise, FLAGGING YOU!

Now before I get into my four worst and most memorable events of trolling/spamming - I will say if you are a new user dropping a link on me that's RELATIVE to my post and you made that CRYSTAL CLEAR, I am amenable.

If you're spamming/trolling/on the receiving end, I have shared some tips at the end of things I've learned.

I have four memorable ones I'd like to share. Let's start with the most recent. (First two are more spammy)

  1. My oh so innocent Sunday Scent Experience post from today:
I will provide the link at the end but here's what I got so you don't even have to go see for yourself:

  1. Sad story about SIL death from heroine overdose. Yep people spamming that too....

So those two above were more spammy, these two are just troll nonsense

  1. A post I made about all the woes I experienced owning a 2004 c320 mercedes. Basically a blog of warning....

RICH GIRL REALLY?!?

Had TWO on this one. Making assumptions just because they saw a pic of a Mercedes

  1. Last, but not least, the rudest person ever about ORCHIDS none the less!!

SUMMARY OF WHAT I'VE LEARNED ABOUT TROLLDOM/SPAMDOM

  • most of these people are into get rich quick schemes and wouldn't understand the concept of an organic following if it hit them in the face
  • many are part of cliques that go around "follow for follow", "upvote for upvote." Well I got NEWS for you - I did not ASK YOU to follow me or UPVOTE MY POST. You chose to. That does not make you entitled to ANYTHING!
  • The fact that people upvote my stuff is an honor because I would assume it was meaningful to them in some way. Since, I only upvote posts that I find to be meaningful.
  • asking me to upvote you is like asking me, a stranger to you for money. When I post it's because I actually want to add value to this community that I love. Which makes the upvotes i do receive very meaningful.
  • I actually created a facebook group that aims to help good steemians gain quality, organic followings. These are people that are following you because they want to, think you're of value to the community, NOT because they want something in return.
  • For the trolls out there, maybe you're angry you are not making money as quickly as you wanted, maybe you're jealous, maybe you've been caught plagiarizing. In that case you should know continueing on with ass hole behavior will get you no where.
  • For those on the receiving end of trollers/spammers, don't feed them. I admit i fed the one in my orchid post. That's the reaction they are looking for. I faltered. But learned a valuable lesson.

Carry on everyone! Thanks for listening to my venting. Hope my tips help someone.

I always find it funny to see there are a lot of commentors that just comment " great post, keep it up" or "wow, great photography, thanks for sharing", makes me giggle to see such copy and pasting going on.

Also, I forgot to mention.

Great post, keep it up ;)

Yea at least state something specific about the "great" post you're commenting on lol

Nothing worse than blind comments!

True that! !

Generally I see trolls as city monkeys.. if you feed them they'll follow you!

Yea i fed that little hungry "orchids are ugly one" learnt my lesson the hard way maybe he'd like some moldy orchids! :D

Ohhh the humanity of it all. At least these are basic trolls. Pretty easy to out them. The ones that wax philosophical about economics and stuff are tougher to spot, making it easier to fall into their trap.

That's true. The "smart" trolls lol

Being very new to steemit I was hoping the level of trolling would be less than other platforms. I know probably wishful thinking, it's reality online now. It's discouraging.

Well, it is being highly discouraged on here for the most part so that's a good thing

Yea, trolls can get annoying and its getting worse. I expect this post to see a lot of troll action.

I was thinking that same thing about trolls jizzing on this post. Whatever lol

Yea, well you are keeping them busy, so someone else don't have to deal with them lol

Jizzing. Hahahahahah

Lol

SpammyTrollitis!

It's a serious condition

I suppose it's good to know where your tax money is spent.....

Lol

i see the problems ,but everyone had issues with spammers. i dont even have joy here anymore on steemit :/

Oh no!! I still enjoy it here. I'm sorry you don't. I'm very staunch on my feelings towards trolls and spammers and disenguous people. That's why i think it's important to build quality organic followings. If you wanna meet some other good steemians join my fb group Steemit Dreamit. Hope it gets better for you regardless @freshstuff

Ok ,I will check your fb group asap 😉thanks

No problem

OK, this is barely trolling to be honest. Drakos is just joking around with you at first, and you really should just totally ignore the other spammers and idiots. It's not worth wasting your valuable time thinking or posting about.

You just have to adjust to the reality that people read like 4 lines of a post and maybe look at a picture. It's a huge bummer for me too, since I like to write long, thorough, well-researched posts. They get far less rewards than shorter, bite-size posts, relative to effort, and a lot of people don't read them.

I empathize with you, but the truth is you will need a thicker skin to survive online. I fear you've seen nothing yet.

Mark Twain said, "Never give advice. A wise man doesn't need it and a fool won't take it."

If you've read any of @chelsea88 's posts you can see that she is in no way a fool. Why you feel the need to give her advice is beyond me.

People have varying degrees of tolerance for foolishness. If it doesn't bother you, that's great. Move on with your life. If something grates on your nerves, like people making invalid assumptions based on reading just a headline, or the "upvote for upvote" crowd (my pet peeve), then feel free to express yourself politely.

Nobody likes unsolicited advice.

Hope your skin is thick enough to accept my comments.

Thanks for your insight. The comment was sexist. I don't need told to 'get thicker skin to survive online." I'm 30 years old been surviving online for a loooooooooong time now and have personally created and currently Run entire groups of people. Have a fantastic day @lexiconical

hahaha :)
