30 year olds guide to everything!! Christianity in politics

What up everyone, I wanted to talk about something slimy and disgusting this morning; Politics. I know, even saying the word makes you feel like you should take a shower. I don't just want to talk about politics, but instead about what I believe Christianity's role should be in our politics.

Christianity obviously makes up the largest portion of our country, so why is it that our country seems to be getting more and more secular all the time. I think we have been sold the lie that we have a two party system and the parties have taken the place of our faith when it comes to steering the direction of the country.

No two people think the same but when it comes to politics we are told that we have to think the same, you have two choices. If you don't follow everything the Democratic platform stands for then you are standing with the Republicans and vice versa and that's just wrong. Its time that we stop letting these creepy politicians tell us what we need to believe and start demanding and they support what we believe.

I don't think faith and especially Christianity should make every decision for us but where faith does have an opinion that should take priority over party. Abortion, for instance, is murder and should not be supported by any candidate that hopes to gain a Christians vote. Democrat or Republican.

There is nothing Christ like about that. If every Christian stood for that principal then there wouldn't be a major political party that would stand for it.

Taxes on the other hand is an issue that can be debated. If you believe taxes should be higher on some Americans or all Americans and I don't that is a good discussion to have. That is not a matter of faith, that's a right or left issue.

Gay marriage and transgenderism is another issue I believe is quite clearly a matter of faith. If your faith would play a major role in your life then again no party would make that a big issue. Now, I don't believe the government should have any role in our marriages at all, gay or straight, but that's a talk for another day.

Net neutrality is something that could be open to differing views. Should the government work to level the playing field or allow the free market to have its way. That is something I'm not terribly well versed on and would like to discuss. Not a matter of faith just politics.

Now I don't think any of these things are matters of salvation necessarily or if you have had an abortion or are gay that you aren't saved, I just think your theology is wrong or you have let your faith be replaced by worldly believes. You can come back from that. 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

I say all this not to say anyone needs to be a Christian or to evangelize anyone. Though I think you should consider it, I am saying this because even if you aren't religious you can see this country is not right, that we are headed down a bad path and I think the reason is we have replaced or faith is God with faith in man.

It's time we let morality and sound reasoning rule this country again and not power hungry lying politicians to drag us down for their own gain.

Have a great day!!
