Why are you here on Steem?
I know I've said it in several past posts.
I have a lot of stuff I do,
and so, I have a lot of stuff I want to post about..
So, obviously, I am here to share.
This is my life.. has always been my life.
I used to go to parties and share anecdotes and stuff I had read.
yes, I was that kind of geek..
And somewhere, there's a folder with a bunch of text files of interesting anecdotes.
Links I've saved.. that kind of thing.
It's not like I can find any of them, or will ever use any of them, to.be.honest.
But I've been like this forever. Ever since livejournal..
hell, even since paper journals.
I have an idea, I have to get it out of my head..
Otherwise I think about it over and over.
If I write it down it's out there..
..the down side is sometimes I write it down and then never get around to sharing it..
Whispering into the void, I suppose
There's tons of envelopes I've jotted notes and ideas down on in piles
in various places in my life.. the backs of closets and boxes in shelves in storage spaces..
But I did want to post something in answer to my @welcomewagon onboarding team's initial questions..
Their question was a great one. Something you don't really think too much about when you choose a blogging platform..
Maybe you read a few article that recommend Blogspot or Wordpress or something..
And people tell you in other serious blogs (often about blogging your way to a career in blogging)..
that the way to market your creative thing is to pump it on social media
To make sure it.is.out.there..
twisting in the wind..
So you get FaceBlergh and Tweetster
But somehow, it doesn't really do it for you..
Anyway.. onwards to the real reason for posting:
Their question..
"One thing we do like to know... what is your goal on Steemit?"
Of course, they were meaning - we want to help you meet that goal..
but it's made me think..
the TL;DR version of the answer, which is very flip,
is "to do a blog"
but its more..
I want something sort of like the kind of communication and connection that I used to feel with 200 or so people on livejournal in the early 'aughts..
There was a time back then where you found like minded individuals or even adversaries but there was a certain fun in chatting them up on topics
social media has become such a 'push' and not much of an 'exchange'. Facebork is now all about people selling their event, or just presenting this image of an ideal life..
So it pushes lifestyle..
And twitter is now so rife with what they call toxcitity that it's like being in a room with people shouting..
I mean, even Pat Sajak is sick of it
What is your goal?
I'm here to share experience and learn from other's experience.. to know more, so I can be more knowledgable.
I learn best when I listen. So I'm here to listen more (or in this case, read more).
To exchange information. Share experience..
I'm interested in why you are here as well.. or rather.. what brought you here?
feel free to share below
Word up, yeah my goal is pretty similar. To do a blog, in my case mostly alien art and original music and family/kids/life type posting. I was blogging about my D&D games previously (blogspot blogs), then kinda got sucked into facebook hole for a while until I crawled out. There is an entire different kind of hell that Steem is, with all the usual demons and avarice that come along with money, but at least you can still connect with people that you want to connect with on this platform without some algorithm trying to serve you up other crap instead.

I am with you on that! It's like oldschool BBS's and blogging before they called it blogging!
I still need to jump on into your radio stuff.. I did a radio show in College for CHUO and did some tech work there.. so my heart is in radio.. but I did a punk, grunge (before it was grunge) garage rock metal overnight show.. so my tastes lean towards the noisey..
I remember when editting a show was actually cutting and splicing tape on a reel to reel with a razor blade..
