The United Kingdom (UK) prepares to deport thousands of Caribbean Nationals--> Windrush generation... I am disappointed and hurt

It seems like the headlines are getting more bizarre, the stories are approaching mind bending levels and those who should know better are the ones causing the most harm. I must warn my readers this kind of climate especially those surrounding immigration cannot continue like this. Separation of family especially the young, the children, are breeding grounds for extremist and if this situation isn't arrested, its fruits would reap havoc in our society. Lets discuss some history that is important to our case...

The United Kingdom and the Caribbean or better known as the 'West Indies' share a strong and common history. In fact, from an historical point the West Indies/ Caribbean came about as a result of European habitation. The archipelago of islands was a fighting ground among the Europeans to lay claim to the island of their loving. The English, the Dutch, the Spanish, etc fought over many of these islands. Many of these islands has change hands from the English, to the Dutch, to the French, to the Spanish, etc. Even today, the Caribbean can be divided into the English Caribbean, the Dutch Caribbean, the French Caribbean, etc. The cotton and sugar plantation in the West Indies brought tremendous wealth to the colonial ruler of the given island. In fact the businesses was so lucrative, it was one of the main reasons for the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade where Africans were bought to the Caribbean to work as slaves on these plantation. These endeavors of my European brothers and sisters went on for over 250 years until slavery was abolish in the West Indies. Many of these island remained under their colonial power, some sought independence and won. I give you this history because it is at the heart of the "Windrush generation". Lets talk about the Windrush generation

For those who aren't aware, many of these islanders still pledge their allegiance to Queen of England whether she give a f... is another question but lets keep focus. In 1948 a cruise ship known as "Windrush" made its round through the Caribbean picking up loyals and faithful to help rebuild England/ the United Kingdom after the destruction of World war II on the invitation of the British crown. Many of these islanders jump at the invitation as the Queen was loved then and is still loved by many now to help rebuild England/ United Kingdom better and stronger. Many became integral part of the British society and even today young men and women are still recruited for the British army. The sad part of this story, even after contributing so much to the society and paying taxes, many never became naturalized citizens. Some of these islands subsequently become independent further complicating some of these islanders status. After my 20 odd years as an islander I believe independence was a grave mistake for many of these island but that's another topic. So we are now left with men and women, in some cases 86 years old facing deportation after contributing and spending all of their lives in England. Something is terribly wrong with this system and world. Several prominent Caribbean representatives tried to meet with British official and discuss the matter and the best that these politicians can do is reject that invitation. Now we are left with people who should be enjoying the latter part of lives wondering if they still be around in a place they call home or face deportation. The situation has broken down so badly with children from these parents unable to obtain jobs or in some cases being fired because they can't prove their status even though they are Commonwealth citizens. I find it really f... up that the government can't find money to sort through these issues but within hours can strike deals to stage wars.

I am getting increasingly disgusted with politicians, they are literally the ultimate con men/women in this game. These are some of the issues people really need to champion not this puppet show of terrorism and nuclear proliferation. It breaks my heart to see how this immigration issue is playing out like people have no memory of history and what got them to that point. We have young people who have children who cannot obtain a passport until that child is 18 years. Even at that age they have to run around in paperwork. I now see people trying to take off one another heads because you were born in a particular country/island, this cannot continue, there comes a point when this level nonsense blows up. For God sake, an 88 year old you threatening with deportation, what lowlife f... comes up with this. An I an not buying the crap that these people are a burden to society when you have no problem spending billions on useless wars, something is really mess up with our world. I am writing this and I am piss off because people who should know better are the ones pushing this level nonsense..... There comes a point when we the people should say enough with this immigration game

Sad and heartbreaking indeed. I have lost faith in politicians for many years now. They play politics with everything , including people’s lives. Terrible lot.

It breaks my heart listening to these interviews, before some of the island gain independence some of these people had British passport... The immigration issues are getting out of hand and the hardliners are empowered now with Trump in office...Its really sad that some of our politicians have forgotten history and its so easy to play the game... I certainly hope common sense prevail, some of those who return, their proudest moments in life was fighting with the British army during World War II... I feel like Trump has open a can of worms with immigration and he needs to be more calculated with his approach because there are some hardliners with racist under tone that have power that would stop at no cost to have their way (Just to clarify, Trump has nothing to do with this issue, I am just making the point, that the immigration hardliners pushing these agendas are now empowered)

Rulea designed behind a desk. Unbelievable this is not thought through. I dont get it man!

Yep its a sad case, Theresa May has given the assurance that their case would be handled properly but that's the mouth of a politician so you have to take it with a pitch of salt.... I think it was a mistake by many of these small islands to gain independence and the exodus to the UK and USA was inevitable, I don't see things improving and probably would get worse while small portion of the population would make progress the larger sect would face the reality... If these folks are indeed deported especially at that age and time in their life, most would be coming home to nothing, added to the poor healthcare and high unemployment it would further complicate the problem... With the high level of debt among Caribbean governments its only a matter of time before reality really soaks in, I am still optimistic and hope for the best and probably UK, USA and Europe would at least consider historical ties, these islands need to rally behind each other, sit down and look closely at food security and probably rekindle trade with South America, given the time we are in, its in everyone interest to ensure that Venezuela comes out of this stronger and more robust it would really give the region a boost.... Funny enough, England post-brexit strategy as they say is spreading their influence within the Commonwealth, great way to start

Shruck

Indeed great move, Einsteins....
