Youth population and its impact on Indian economy

in blog •  7 years ago

India is among those countries which have the young population between 15-30 age group, as per statistics by 2020 India will become the world’s youngest country with approximate of 60-65 percentage of its citizens are in the range of the working group. Does it have any impact on the economic development of the nation? As many developed countries in west and east are aging, experts say that this demographic changes will show positive result one economy and increase GDP growth.

To utilize this young talent, the country needs to address the challenges like a quality of education in both urban and rural areas, bringing awareness in youth for agriculture and access to proper healthcare benefits mainly to women. With fast developing B and C Grade cites the cost of living in almost all parts of the country are increasing tremendously. There will be more youth population in south and western region of India like Kerala, Maharashtra Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

The report traces the incredible rise — and the eventual decline — of this cohort in India. The population in the age-group of 15-34 increased from 353 million in 2001 to 430 million in 2011. Current predictions suggest a steady increase in the youth population to 464 million by 2021 and finally a decline to 458 million by 2026. Source

For the country with large Youth population, it requires a lot of motivation and opportunities. It is also one of the fastest economies and one of the highly corrupted countries, If young people are going higher and prominent positions in the government, they should fight against corruption, as the change should come from individual to change the country.

Youth needs to bring change by creating a sustainable environment for value on education and good work ethic for the effective progress of the nation towards economic success. This also reduces the gap between the rich and poor as it even one of the significant challenges India is facing today. Great responsibility is placed on young people of coming generation as they have adequate facilities for education and other resources.

China is second with 269 million young people, followed by Indonesia (67 million), the U.S. (65 million) and Pakistan (59 million), Nigeria with 57 million, Brazil with 51 million, and Bangladesh with 48 million, the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) State of the World’s Population report said.Source

The role of the youth population in the nation-building is essential. Youth can create an identity for themselves and bring positive impact on the nation. However, it will be tough for them without any support from government and senior people so the youths can make their contribution in developing the country.

Here's an interesting comparison between the projected population growth of India and Japan:

And it's the youth and youth alone who can bring some change to the country. Whether it is corruption or dirty politics, I really feel that this present generation has a huge role to play to clean this country up.

Agreed on your views, youth population can do many things provided they are given better guidance and support. Sometimes all they need is 'moral boost'. Empower youth for the development of the country!
