When we use Uber, we usually have great conversation with our Uber drivers. It's best to have that little moment there cause it's beneficial for both parties. Riders rate Uber drivers, and drivers rate riders too. So being warm and friendly is the best way to go.
There are times I don't talk to the Uber driver especially when I'm alone and when they don't seem approachable. I'm the quiet type at times.
Last night, I rode an Uber going to work, the driver's name was Ryan. He's sporting a Hyundai Eon, a blue one. After he stopped at the pick-up point, I waved at him (signaling him to open the car) then opened the front door and confirmed the name of the person who booked the ride (I don't have an Uber login so I use my wife's).
"Seatbelt please", he reminded. It's good cause some drivers don't do that, and there's a reason a seat belts are there, for your own safety. Best to use it all the time.
"McKinley po Kuya", I confirmed my destination while he sets up Waze (Kuya is an endearment for 'Older Brother', which can be used for strangers too - 'Ate' if it's a girl. PO is used to be polite.).
It was raining hard last night so Uber was my best option instead of public transportation, also it's more convenient and the price difference of my fare isn't that big if I'm on Uber Pool.
I kept quiet till we came to a stop because another road was closed due to construction! The same road that was still open the other night. He said it would be a good idea to update Waze and inform them that there's a construction around this place. We head back and found a different route. All the way, I started complaining how their projects are just proposed and made so that they can get enough cash to feed their own mouth. These government officials projects are usually overlapping, e.g they would fix half the road for the drainage while damaging the other half, then when that's done they'd fix the damage they dealt, THEN they'd start construction for waterworks on the same road they just fixed! That's not efficient and a good way to burn the people's taxes. Anyway, he kept agreeing to what I said, most Filipinos would. Cause that's the usual situation here.
We reached half of the travel, 10 minutes in, around 3 kilometers traveled when I started sharing about Steemit.com. I was already checking it on my phone, along with Steem prizes in Bittrex.com when I decided to share this awesome platform to Sir Ryan.
"Kuya, try mo to. Astig tong website na to.", I said to him, boasting about the site. (Bro, try this. This website rocks!) He asked what Steemit is about afterwards.
"Do you know bitcoin?", was the follow up question I made, cause that's the mainstream coin here and most people using the coins.ph app will be aware of it. He said, yes. I gave an overview (simplified terms) of bitcoin then proceeded to explaining the similarities of it to Steem. Then I explained the main differences. Especially, how a person can get rewarded for being a Steemian.
"Talaga? Ang galing naman nyan!", he exclaimed. (Really? That's amazing then!)
I showed him my page and my wallet ($400 looks small, but for Uber drivers here, that's a total of 100 to 150 rides!). As well as someone else's wallet. Showed him bittrex as well, and compared Steem to some stocks.
He just resigned from work and he's on Uber full time. He did say he was not active in social media at all. Even his Facebook account is handled by his dear wife, so it may be impossible for him to join. However, he did say he will share it to his wife, he thinks Steemit.com is amazing and could prove beneficial to his wife. Kuya Ryan said his wife will definitely like this website, since she likes to post a lot on Facebook and the possibilities of earning is a real good news for them two.
We arrived safe and sound and he dropped me off my office, I was not late today too! I was on Uber Pool so it was really cheap, the fare was just $1.30 when converted from pesos. I had to give him a tip, it was not much though.
Well, if they do good in Steemit, I'm sure their future earnings will be more than any tip that they would get!
It seems I may have taught someone how to fish!
We may not know, maybe Kuya Ryan will start a whole group of Filipino Uber Steemians!
Thanks for reading!
I just looked up Uber when searching for their logo and read somewhere that they're accepting Litecoin as payments now. Imagine having Steem or Steem Dollars (SBD) integrated into their payment systems too!

If you have a portfolio in your bunghole and you have no bunghole, then you have no portfolio.
