I did an oopsie...

in blog •  5 years ago

When I started the DiggnDeeper community, I managed to save the wrong keys.

The trouble is that when using the awesome SteemWorld tools, the account recovery wants some of the account's recent keys, and I obviously don't have them. I have actually had this problem one other time with another account. I used SteemWorld that time too and it seems that I just kept trying stuff and it finally just magically worked.

I have a basic understanding of how account recovery works, I think, but I'm going to have to do some more digging today and get this resolved right away.

If you have any good recommendation for me, please leave a comment. I will do a write up after a successful recovery.

I feel like such a dunce, as I pride myself on good digital hygiene and careful documentation.

This is something that can be a real problem with "norms" on Steem that expect they can just hit a password reset button. In other words, I can see a good amount of butt-hurt by people that encounter this without knowing ahead of time that it can and probably will happen a good amount of the time.
