AWESOME NEWS FOR MUSICIANS!

in blog •  7 years ago  (edited)

An amazing thing happened last week on April 25th!

The US House of Representatives UNANIMOUSLY passed (Yes - UNANIMOUSLY ) by a vote of 415-0, H.R. 5447 (the MMA or Music Modernization Act.) Politicians never vote UNANIMOUSLY on anything, so it is very heartening to see that they are all for a modernization of copyright IN FAVOR OF THE MUSICIANS! If you want to read what they signed, take a peek here

This Bill now needs to pass the Senate in order for it to be written into law. Please support musicians by contacting your US senators to let them know that they have your support! It is so easy to do. When you enter your zip code, a letter is immediately drafted for your senators. All you have to do then is hit the send button. I have sent my support for musicians. If you are in the US, you can also support them by contacting your senators here.

The Copyright Alliance does a tremendous job of supporting us all. They would love your support too. Look what we can do when ALL ARTISTS are united! Without their tireless work the MMA passing in The House would not have been a reality!

Three weeks ago I wrote here about H.R.3945, the CASE Act (the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act), a bill which help artists defend their copyright material in a copyright SMALL CLAIMS COURT. It was to have been voted on in the latter half of April, but because the House Judiciary Committee was very busy working on music reform, they postponed voting on the CASE Act, but the The Copyright Alliance anticipates that it will be considered sometime this month.

Please let your Congressional representative know that you support H.R.3945, which supports ALL CONTENT CREATORS! You can do that very easily here. Let's encourage them to vote UNANIMOUSLY on this bill too!

How awesome!! Consider it done!

That's cool. We all need to look out for each other. It's amazing what is going on right now to help to protect our rights as artists to make a living from what we do.

Its a beautiful thing for sure! Im no artist by any means but music has gotten me through some very tough and very exciting times in my life! I believe its crucial to have in daily life. Together, we shall succeed! <3

But you are a writer, and your blog is covered by copyright law too! :-)

Writer may be taking it a bit far! ;) But very true my friend, very true!

Whatever you write on your blog post is copyright. :-)

Don't know how exactly it influences my fellow Indie musicians, but really hope industry to turn the right side to us. Steemit, dsound and Musicoin are big, HUGE help in setting example and making it happen

I don't know all the details either, but I know the bill favors the creators. Now we need them to pass the one that will be of great importance to photographers and all content providers!

It'd be awesome! At the moment (and I am more on music sides of things) you either post on pixabay and it all free or on gettyimages with outrageous sticker price. Should be something rewarding for photographers. With music you can reward for playing a minute. For image it is more difficult, as you cannot monetize if someone staring for it a minute or more :) (except channels), but somewhat easier as you can prove that image is yours .... if know where it was used :)

Yes, I hope the Senate doesn't go and spoil things!

me as well

good news thanks and nice funky edit

Thanks! I am so happy for the musicians. I just hope that the senators heed the will of the people now!

Wow! That is amazing news. Having moneygrubbers "manage" artists has been a losing deal for artists for a long, long time.

Hopefully it will all work out for the best!

Thanks for helping to campaign for a law that helps to censor people more, even with justification of fair use.
