Quick hello from this American Holiday Weekend in our #steemitvillage

The assortment of plants I have been potting up this weekend, waiting to be potted up. I'll share the results later in the week.

I know it isn't the 'thing' to simply post a few pictures with very little text, but I am hoping you will see this as a quick, "Hello" over the fence in or #steemitvillage. This weekend is the American holiday of Independence or 4th of July. As the 4th is midweek it is celebrated the weekend prior.

We are keeping it a bit quiet with just one dear friend who is back on the Cape from California for the summer. It's nice to have one or a few guests at a time, I think.

Anyway, short post to say hello and even though I have been potting up new containers, Monty, My little Chi, is showing his disgust at how much mummie has let the grass grow up in our new gravel terrace. "Tsk Tsk" he seems to say, just prior to anointing all my pots, as he does each morning.

We are lucky in our location that we never have to go out to see fireworks. Our vantage point across the bay allows us to see various towns fireworks displays. And as each town does them a different night, we usually get a few days of displays. Last night we enjoyed this one from the Country Club a few towns over whose lovely grounds jut out into the sea and give us a great, if not distant view.

This is not a very good display but my little phone did the best it could. It was much more dramatic in real life.

Tonight we will have a few more as well.

Well, I hope all my American #steemitvillagers are enjoying this holiday weekend, and to everyone else, I hope your weekend is just lovely for the sake of being lovely.

Happy holiday.

Thank you. I hope you are having a great weekend as well.

I'm glad my doggy is a 'I've got to go guy' not an anointer. Just sayin'

I'm at my brother's place, where I spent the last 4th. He has an enormous deck overlooking the Columbia River and the 'Fireworks Barge' is less than 1/2 mile away. Also less than 3 miles from the display for 3 other towns and maybe 5 from the baseball park (which had their fireworks last night).

Always good to see you Donna, even if it's just over the fence...

My little assh*** er I mean, my little darling does like to 'annoint' anything new I put down. I let him do it in the garden but I'm not as 'giving' indoors. The feisty atitude of the Chi prevails. He's a great dane trapped in a tiny body :)

That sounds lovely! We used to take our sailboat, when we had it, to a place that many boats would go and anchor near the fireworks barge for the Wianno Club (just a local place) fireworks display, that was fun. Our friends dogs always freaked out and they had to lock them down below, but our dogs were always oblivious.

Glad to poke my head over the fence and give a 'hiya' :)
