Hello to everybody,
I have spoken about before the first of my two heroic grandmothers. I thanked them they exist since I have learnt a lot from them, not regarding book but practice in life, resistance against dictatorship, sense of freedom, independence and resilient.
The lovely grandmother is doing quite good, although, they had to give her a blood transfusion.
Let´s go now to the main issue: what she taught me so important. Well, it is about all her life, more than a moment.
She was born near Treviso, at that time a very poor part of Italy and she had a lot of siblings, so when she was just 12 and I repeat 12 years old she emigrated near Torino. She did not have really a childhood because, after just 2 or 3 years of school, she had to work hard to support the family. She had graze the geese, assisting disabled kids, and doing pretty much every work that was available.
She had to stay with straight nuns, so puritans that she had to hide her bra under the bed since it was not allowed, it was a sin. Then she was followed by her younger sister, they had a tough life, and they have to send they earned to the poor family.
She was strong, determined and fearless, which is why probably when a man behaves like a coward, the first instinct for me is asking what type of you are, saying bad words and punching the table. Anyway, in the new house, she had no chairs but she managed to have them, lending them from a neighbour. She went around on foot finding jobs, and once when the luck struck, my grandmother and her sister found suddenly banknotes on the street, being afraid somebody could come back to search them, one of them put a foot over them and they start to chat. They chat for long since they were in a pretty crowded street, waiting for the right occasion to put the money in their pockets. It was about surviving and they made a fantastic job, trust me, generally, they are very generous people.
When I went to the Czech Republic, and lost my job or I went to Germany I always thing about how the grandmother will manage the situation, and then I think how the other grandmother will reverse the situation with an act of courage.
I would not be half of the woman I am without you. Thanks.
Here is the courageous grandmother:
Here is the tenacious grandmother:
May I have one of those qualities.

What an inspiring story. It reminds me of my own grandmother who migrated from Bolivia to Brazil to escape the hunger at the age of six in an ox cart with her father and two younger brothers.
