As expected, HyperSpace, the rebranded Synereo / AMP project, announced today that they are "confident enough" to move from alpha to beta, after a thorough testing period.
After a month of validating our novel economic models and testing user experience assumptions as well as the technical foundations of the new network, HyperSpace is moving from Alpha to Beta.
The new beta version features a number of improvements, among which I found 3 to be of interest: notifications, contextual post information and user profiles. Let's take them one at a time.
Notifications
As you can see from the screenshot above, there is now a new area in top right area, which holds a log of user-centric information: who amplified your posts, how much revenue you earned for amplifying various posts, and, if you're an admin (if you manage a space) how much you earn by doing so:
The notifications area also holds information about your pending / verified posts.
Contextual Post Information
Starting this beta, after each post there is a box containing more information about that post. I call that "contextual post information" for lack of a better name. This box contains various meta data about the said post: how many amplifiers, what's the space in which the post appeared, the average revenue in that space and so on.
User Profile
Last, but not least, the brand new user profile page shows a little bit of financial information about the user, including the total amount of AMPs earned by posting and by amplifying other posts:
One other thing that was expected with this beta was the actual verification of the spaces created during alpha. At the moment of writing, the group I'm managing there, Digital Nomads, was still on pending, although you can still post and get rewards there.

Wanna know when you're getting paid?
I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards | |
I still didn't get the confirmation for my account

Is it built on a blockchain?
I tried creating an account and they're experiencing some technical difficulties.
I've tried Trybe and a few other places out as well, but I've just invested too much time into Steemit, but willing to give hyperspace a try once I'm able to sign up.

I think the posts are saved via IPFS and just the rewards are coming from a blockchain, because you're getting paid in AMPs.
I'm not setting myself up in any direction (meaning I'm not planning to leave STEEM, nor to stay until it's dead in the woods), I'm just experiencing various places.
I tried Trybe as well, but not convinced so far. Too much accent on their airdrops / bonus mechanisms. It's more like a bank in which they want you to invest, and less like a real social network.
Anyways, we'll see.

Is amps the blochchain or are they just a token on a blockchain?

As far as I know AMP is an OMNI token (which means they run on the Bitcoin blockchain).
