HELLO EVERYBODY!
Welcome to the beginnings of my newest project! A 70 year old house in Kimberley, BC. We just moved in and I will be Steeming the renovations, this old house needs some Tender Loving Care and that is what we do best! Kimberley is an old mining town and the miners had hammers, so you really don't know how they did some of the building. We looked at about 15 homes here a couple years ago and said no way!!$$$ I could see the money piling up and spewing out a fire hose. Eeeeee!
But, 2 more years of building experience and a bit of destiny, we are back. This sale went so smooth it was just the right timing, and timing is one of my greatest strengths! When life rides like that, you gotta enjoy it.
I have been told by some locals that this house has been a major party house in the past. Maybe that's why we liked it hahahaha! But that being said, I did a smudging ceremony and more importantly did an energetic clearing over the property. (More on that in a future Chinese Shamanic Medicine post.) We are all clear and ready to get settled. Good thing cause little Omni is getting a sibling end of August! Oh this Summer is heating up, that's for sure. There is a massive heat wave here right now and my red head pregnant wife is trooping like a military personnel. Amazing stamina.
This is our little cottage style home built in 1947.
Living room.
Entry way.
Master Bedroom.
Omni's Room.
Bathroom.
Kitchen.
Mudroom.
Out the back is a carport.
Here are some pictures of the basement which will be a full gut in the near future. Starting with the carpets. It is all coming out.
This basement has loads of potential. Who ever did the work down here in the first place was a total hack! It will be quite the reno. I am going to put a new bathroom down here, a proper guest room and recroom.
I will also be replacing the roof asap as well, my specialty. We are going to use copper penny colored metal panels! Ooo shiney! And torch on for the carport. Also will be replacing that old stucco with new siding. This old house will be the nicest one on the street when I am done with it.
If you have heard of the insane housing prices in parts of Canada, it is true. This area is on the rise as well. We got in just at the right time! If anyone can guess within $5000 what this place cost us YOU win 2 SBD! That price is in CAD. I will be doing more contests during this part of THE BUILD section of my blog to make it more fun for me and you.
Well I hope you enjoyed a first look. We slept here last night, have a few more things to move yet from our rental and it's go time. We will be painting upstairs for now to give it a facelift. All new window coverings going in this weekend. The yard is another story hahahaha! I will try to update this weekly. Also hopefully getting the Airstream back as well soon! You can see those progress videos @egregorian. Take care all and blessings! Have a great weekend Steemians!

Looks like a nice property with good "bones." I'm sure you'll turn it into something beautiful... looks pretty good just from the photos.
I know BC real estate can be pretty steep (like it is here in Washington state)... for a 70-year old fixer and in CAD? I'd guess in the region of $300K.

Thanks @denmarkguy! I met a neighbor today that has lived here a long time, he said it is solid and has great potential. And is also glad renters are not living in it haha no doubt! For your guess you are quite a bit high in that. Although some houses right near

Very old house and it still looks good. Can't wait to see how the renovation will turn out.

Thanks @kryptokayden. Most of the homes here are even older and more scary! We think we found a good solid little home to grow our family.
