Do This...Love your Family

Well I didn't want to make the topic too long but i should add 'unless they are totally incapable of being loved. There is an old saying we probably have all come across, which is 'blood is thicker than water'. I probably never realized the meaning of that in full till a few years ago as I stepped into adulthood. Even now, the revelations from that statement keep appearing in various dimensions.

The bond shared by family cannot be replicated by friendship for most cases, with rare exceptions. This is likely because such bonds need no reason, effort or obligation to take action. Again I'll use the recent health issue that has befallen a family member. The level of love, support and concern from our extended family has been heartwarming. Like an unpleasant reunion turned good I didn't really know what to expect from some of whom our paths haven't come across in as such as a decade.

Like a movie though, the bonds still held strong and we simply flowed...even with those who couldn't be physically present. It was quite obvious that the bond was there....bonds that probably would not exist but for blood.

I wonder if such bonds can extend to friends though. I've had quite a few 'out of sight' friends who seemed to have disconnected with a change in location. Quite a few reunion meeting have felt more than awkward....making me wonder if such bonds were there in the first place.

When push comes to shove, we can always look to family for support,comfort and love. That being said though, there are friends who always stick out and stick that just like family...with bonds that even go deeper.
