The cruise ship "Sea Princess" was on a 100-day cruise around the world, but then the pleasure cruise became a nightmare: on some of the route the ship was completely forgotten and all the music and dance performances were canceled. The reason: "The captain apologized and said there was a real threat of a pirate attack"
The passengers, who paid more than $ 50,000 a ticket, said the ship had become a ghost ship, traveling through a dangerous territory known for occasional pirate attacks. As the ship passed through the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden, and the Gulf of Suez, it was completely obscured. "The captain apologized for sowing panic among the passengers, but said the threat was real and that the ship should prepare for a pirate attack," the passengers said.
A team recommended to the passengers that in the event of an attack, hold on to the handrails because the ship might have to deviate from the route of the pirate ships. Fortunately, the fear of a pirate attack did not materialize.
A spokesman for Princess Cruises, the ship's operator, said the company did not give details about security procedures. "The security measures taken are the result of greater caution and not as a response to a certain threat, which is common practice in international ships traveling in the area."
In the last 12 years, there have been reports of six attempted attacks by cruise ships. The first pirate attack on a commercial ship occurred in 2012 when more than 20 Somali armed pirates hijacked the Greek oil tanker "Aris 13". It was released without charge of the ransom demanded by the pirates.
