After my fiance and I finished seeing the Geysers in Yellowstone National Park , we began our trek out of the park towards Yellowstone Lake, and our hotel room in Cody WY. These are some gorgeous photos that i took of the sunset over Steamboat Point on the Lake.
Situated at 7,733 feet above sea level, Yellowstone Lake is the largest high elevation lake (above 7,000 feet) in North America. It is roughly 20 miles long and 14 miles wide, with 141 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 132 square miles. Yellowstone Lake freezes over completely every winter in late December or early Jan uary, with ice thicknesses varying from a few inches to more than two feet. The lake usually thaws in late May or early June. Yellowstone Lake remains cold year-round, with an average water temperature of 41°F. Because of the extremely cold water, swimming is not recommended. Survival time is estimated to be only 20 to 30 minutes in water at this temperature. My handsome fiance enjoying some sun by the lakeside <3
I had so much fun pitstopping and enjoying the scenery, and blowing bubbles out over the lake <3 The sunset was gorgeous , and the water was really really cold!!
From here, we headed towards the East Gate of the park to exit the park and drive towards our hotel in Cody WY . The drive was gorgeous, scenic , and laid back ,and my fiance and i spent the time recapping our day, and planning out Day 2 of our fun daytrip vacation.
The sunset over the mountains made the whole drive seem magical and unreal. Photos just can't show how massive the mountains really are .
We had a long day with a lot of activities planned ahead of us, so we caught a quick dinner in Cody, and headed to bed for the night to rest up for all of our Cody WY tourism :)
Keep tuned for the rest of the blog on our little Daytrip through MT, WY , and the Yellowstone National Park!
Thanks for Reading !! Happy Steeming!!
